Top 5 Players that Contributed in Toyota's First Semester Success
Philippines auto industry is getting bigger and better with every passing second, and car makers are turning towards this nation to take advantage of the opportunity explosion. But one auto creator that has been around for a while now and has taken maximum advantage of the current situation is Toyota.
This Japanese car manufacturer offers a wide variety of cars in the Philippines market and interestingly five of the 12 major market players carry Toyota batch. Vios, Fortuner, Innova, Hiace, and Wigo are the proud winners in their respective segments and have contributed in the 37.9% market share covered by Toyota.
Despite the 17.5% dip in its market share, this June Toyota has still managed to stay on top and has surpassed the others like Mitsubishi, Hyundai, Isuzu and Honda with a huge difference. And all credit goes to Toyota's five strong fighting soldiers mentioned above. Toyota in all sold 57,717 units in the H1 of 2015 and thus, witnessed a 20% growth when compared to the first segment of 2014.

1. Toyota Vios
A total of 14,878 units of Vios were sold in first half of 2015, of which 2,480 cars were sold in June itself. Thus, making this sedan an immediate leader and this fact is rightly supported by the fact that 10.8% of the total car segment was covered by Vios alone.
Second in the line is a powerful sports utility vehicle called Fortuner that covered 6.3% of the entire market segment. In all 8,744 units of this SUV were sold in first half of which 1,457 Fortuners were dispatched in June.
Innova is loved around the world and so is the case with the Philippines. Toyota sold 8,028 units of Innova in first six months that accounted for 5.8% of the entire sales figures. The June sales books showed 1,338 units that reached to their desired destination.
4. Toyota Hiace
A multi-utility car Toyota Hiace is available in a wide range of configurations, including minibus, van, pick-up, taxi, and ambulance. Its endless usage has contributed to its high 7,706 units sales figure. 1,284 Hiace were sold in June alone and thus, accounted for 5.6% of automobile sales data.
5. Toyota Wigo
Breaking the hierarchy on no. 6 fell the cute looking hatchback Wigo. The car lost the fifth position mark to Mitsubishi Montero, but still displayed a decent sales figure of 5,484 units in first half. With 4% of the entire sales portion, Toyota sold 914 units in June.
