MANILA: Another thrilling race weekend will happen this coming weekend as the second leg of this year's Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR) Philippine Cup is set to take place in Mabalacat, Pampanga.

The races will be divided into two formats,Sprint and Endurance.In a statement, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) is inviting enthusiasts to go to Clark International Speedway on Saturday (September 28) for a day of fun at the tracks.
In addition, the company also hinted that the new name for the competition (then known as the Vios Cup) will lead to more Toyota cars making their racetrack debut in the future.
“Anchored on the spirit of fun to drive, TMP continues its mission to provide Filipinos with ever-better cars through motorsports, where racers and race cars alike are pushed to the limits for better,” TMP noted.
On-track racing
Similar to the first leg, the TGR Philippine Cup’s upcoming race weekend will feature two kinds of race formats: Sprint (a 12-lap or 30-minute contest) and Endurance (a 1.5-hour competition).
On board the one-make-race Vios, competitors segregated into four categories (Novice, Promotional, Sporting, and Super Sporting) will vie for podium finishes.
Participating in the Novice Class is TMP President Masando Hashimoto, who made his racing debut during the first race weekend. He will be joined by graduates of the Autocross Challenge Reph Bangsil, Lexi Mendiola, media drivers John Rey San Diego, Jamil Lacuna, Jose Altoveros, and Pablo Salapantan as well as sim racer Russel Reyes (who also finished third place at the TGR Gran Turismo Cup-Philippines).
Returning to track are Team TGR Philippines racers Ryan Agoncillo and Troy Montero who will contend in the Sporting and Super Sporting categories, respectively. With them are Kody Ng, a new member of Team TGR Philippines Sporting class. They will go against seasoned racers in the country.
Car club enjoyment
Toyota car clubs will also get to run their performance cars for a track day experience. Meanwhile, fans of the GR Supra, GR 86, and GR Yaris can bask in the sound of engines and sight of speeding cars.
Aside from that, professional drifters will have an exhibition using the GR 86. In addition, few viewers at the grandstand will have the chance to ride shotgun during the spinning exhibition.
Other events
Further, online racers who love to run laps on the virtual track may test their skills at the TGR GT Cup experience booth. The player who will set the fastest time will get to bring home a prize.
Those who want to wear GR badge proudly may also get one for themselves as official merchandise will be on sale at the event.
Moreover, the TGR Philippine Cup will also have a special live stage to round off the weekend — with the admission free of charge.

The Toyota Gazoo Racing Philippine Cup was made in partnership with Petron (official fuel and lubricants partner) and GT Radial (official tire partner), and in cooperation Seiko (official timekeeper). The event is also supported by Toyota Financial Services Philippines, myTOYOTA Wallet, Denso, AVT, 3M, ROTA, Tuason Racing, OMP, and Kinto One.
