Toyota GR Supra launched in the Philippines, starts at Php 4,990,000
MANILA: Yes, it’s here, finally. After all the wait, teasers, guest appearances, and leaks, Toyota Motor Philippines has finally and officially, launched the Supra in the country. And, guess what? The image that revealed the color options and their respective prices, was actually spot on. As mentioned in the image, the Toyota GR Supra in the Philippines starts at Php 4,990,000.
As we all have known since forever, the fifth-generation Supra is based on the FT-1 concept. To no surprise, the sports icon stays true to the concept and carries over the majority of the aesthetic elements. With a wheelbase of 2,470 mm, the Toyota GR Supra stands at 4379 mm long, 1854 mm wide,
and 1294 mm tall. While the newest iteration of the Supra is shorter in length compared to the previous 2002 model which measured 4514 mm, it is, however, taller and wider than the previous-gen Supra. The race-inspired nose-cone, slim LED headlamps, large air-intakes, long hood, and a short deck design make up the front end of the Supra.
At the rear, the all-new Supra gets slim taillights, sporty bumper, and unique haunches. The side profile of the car is bolstered by a set of 19-inch alloy wheels. Hop inside the Toyota GR Supra and you are greeted with a sporty three-spoke steering wheel, a free-standing infotainment display, an electronic gear selector, and an array of carbon fibre trim pieces.
Being a car from 2019, the new Supra features an 8.8-inch digital instrument panel instead of the conventional analogue dials. There is also a heads-up display. Taking care of entertainment needs is an 8.8-inch touchscreen that comes with all the necessary connectivity features like Bluetooth and USB. A 12-speaker system by JBL provides some amazing tones.
Coming on to the mechanicals, the fifth-generation Toyota GR Supra is powered by a 3.0-litre twin-scroll turbocharged inline-six motor that makes 335 PS from 5,000 – 6,500 rpm and a peak torque of 500 Nm from 1,600 – 4,500 rpm. An eight-speed automatic transmission sends the power to the rear wheels. A 0-100 kmph run in the all-new Supra takes no more than 4.3 seconds. Safety equipment of the Supra includes seven SRS airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, vehicle stability control, traction control, reverse camera, and a security alarm with immobilizer.
As we got to know from the image leak, the price tags boasted by the different colors of the all-new Toyota Supra are:
- Prominence Red - Php 4,990,000
- Black Metallic, Lightning Yellow, Silver Metallic, White Metallic, Deep Blue Metallic, and Ice Gray Metallic - Php 5,050,000
- Matte Storm Gray Metallic - Php 5,090,000
