The Philippine Quality Award is a national awards program that honors organizations' efforts in achieving performance excellence. It was the cornerstone initiative of the National Action Agenda for Productivity in 1997 and served as the framework for the country's integrated approach to increasing economy-wide productivity. How many Philippine organizations have received the PQA Level 4 recognition?
So far, only two Philippine organizations have received Level 4, and Toyota Motor Philippines is one of them. The award was presented by President Rodrigo Duterte, along with DTI Secretary Ramon Lopez and DTI Competitiveness Bureau Director Lilian Salonga.
During the PQA Conferment Ceremony, President Duterte stated, “I am with you in honoring public and private sector organizations who have embodied excellence in their pursuits. I call on all the awardees to continue your work that redound to the benefit of our people.”
TMP is the first PQA recipient in the car manufacturing industry. It is also only the second Philippine organization to receive Level 4, the “Philippine Quality Award for Performance Excellence,” in PQA’s 22-year history.
“TMP is honored to receive such high distinction in the PQA history, as well as to share TMP’s best practices that can serve as a benchmark for other Philippine industries,” TMP Chairman Alfred Ty said.
In its sharing of best practices, TMP emphasized that the company’s consistent industry and market leadership over the past three decades would not have been possible without the trust of its customers. TMP’s success is the result of its unwavering dedication to provide total quality and excellence in all aspects of its operations.
According to TMP, its strong business foundation also includes Toyota core values, innovative management of resources, and rich experience in production, logistics, sales, and after-sales operations.
TMP is responsible for the growth of the local automotive manufacturing industry. It currently manufactures the popular Vios and Innova models. Its extensive logistics facilities, including the recently inaugurated Batangas Vehicle Center, ensure prompt delivery of Toyota vehicles across the country. TMP strives to provide an exceptional customer experience while fulfilling the nation’s mobility needs through its highly competent team members.
“The PQA award further inspires us to continue to improve and ultimately help our business become more sustainable, especially with new ventures that we are taking on,” TMP President Atsuhiro Okamoto stated. “The PQA’s focus on customer-centricity reminds us to be much interlinked with the rapidly changing market, especially as we develop a total mobility solution that will be an enabler of inclusive growth for more stakeholders.”
In parallel, TMP Vice Chairman David Go said, “We are also thankful to the DTI-Competitiveness Bureau for its motivation to companies, regardless of size or sector, to uphold quality and contribute to national competitiveness. With the strong and continued support from the Government, we believe local manufacturers like TMP can develop the capability to compete in the global arena and drive economic growth.”
