MANILA: Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has officially opened the reservation books for the next-generation Tamaraw that is expected to be formally launched later within the year.

Built on the IMV 0 platform, the next-generation Toyota Tamaraw is offered in five body styles namely the dropside (low and high options), utility van (in short and long wheelbase formats), aluminum van — all measuring 5,305 millimeters (mm) long and 1,795 mm wide, with a 3,085 mm wheelbase.
Its height varies from 1,711-2,011 mm while its payload capacity can reach up to 1,125 kilograms — depending on the configuration.
TMP also offers conversion accessories that turn the next-generation Toyota Tamaraw into a patrol van, ambulance, refrigerated van, camping vehicle, food truck, fire truck, and mobile service vehicle.
Meanwhile, powering all next-generation Toyota Tamaraw trims are either the 2.4-liter 2GD-FTV diesel engine that can dish out up to 148 horses (hp) and 400 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque or the 2.0-liter 1TR-FE gasoline mill that can deliver 137 hp and 183 Nm.
The diesel powertrain is mated to either a six-speed automatic transmission or a five-speed manual gearbox while the latter, only in five-speed rower.
Among the amenities inside the vehicle’s cab is urethane steering wheel, a seven-inch display (double din audio system) paired with two speakers, and two cup holders.
Further, the next-generation Toyota Tamaraw comes with airbags, as well as disc and drum brakes for the front and rear wheels with anti-lock braking system and electronic brakeforce distribution.
TMP is also allowing customers to acquire the vehicle through Toyota Financial Services via 10-percent low down payment or extended loan term up to 84 months under the “Kabuhayan on Wheels Financing”.
Lastly, the next-generation Toyota Tamaraw is packaged with the following warranty coverages:
- Bumper-to-bumper warranty: 100,000 kilometers or 36 months
- Rear body conversion: 20,000-100,000 kilometers or 12-36 months.
To note, the next-generation Toyota Tamaraw was first unveiled locally in August 2023 during the company’s 35th-anniversary celebration. It was formally presented by no less than Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) Chairman Akio Toyoda. On the said event, the nameplate was seen in modern public utility vehicle and drift truck configurations.
