Toyota Motors Confirms the debut of C-HR in 2016
MANILA: Toyota has already revealed different versions of the C-HR this year. The Frankfurt Motor show also witnessed the latest version of the C-HR. Now, the automaker is planning to introduce the production model in 2016. The production model of C-HR will be launched at the 2016 Detroit Motor show. The new C-HR will be available in the U.S by the name Scion crossover. Meanwhile, Toyota is also developing the production model of Toyota Yaris for the upcoming 2017 World Rally championship(WRC).
Toyota Motors mentioned that the new C-HR will feature more styling and interior comfort. It won’t look much different from the concept. It is likely to offer a hybrid power mill with 1.8-litre gasoline engine and a powerful electric motor along with the option of one more engine unit with lesser power. The engine will be capable of producing enormous power and it would be paired to a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). The engine seems preferably borrowed from the Prius and it has been reported that the other variants of the C-HR might offer hybrid-cum-turbocharged petrol engine. This will be a challenge for the competition as Ford, Nissan and Chevrolet haven’t introduced hybrid powertrain in their segment respective drives, but at the same time, this new crossover may pull out more from user’s pocket.
The new C-HR is going to be a fun-to-drive hybrid crossover as it is likely to feature an aggressive portfolio with “diamond architecture design”, which gives it an extra sportier outlook. However, the automaker hasn’t revealed much about the production model but it is expected to offer improved fuel efficiency. From the interior counterpart, the C-HR will offer more cabin space than the Nissan Juke.
The new model will be launched at the 2016 Geneva motor show with L-shaped tail lamps and tweaked floating roof. The production model will, however, differ from what we have shown here, but the futuristic dimensions and approach will definitely place a bang on the rivalry.
