Toyota PH Announces Return of Vios Cup, GT Cup this Year

MANILA: Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) is kicking off another exhilarating motorsports season with the 2023 edition of the Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR) Vios Cup one-make-race series and the TGR Gran Turismo (GT) Cup Philippines e-motorsports championship.

The first of three legs of the ninth season of TGR Vios Cup will take place on July 1 at the Clark International Speedway in Pampanga.

Admission is free for on-site audiences. The event will also be livestreamed on the Toyota Gazoo Racing Philippines Facebook page.

The TGR Vios Cup will be introducing a new race format this year. Toyota fans will also be treated to a surprise.

Seasoned and up-and-coming racers will participate in Super Sporting, Sporting, and Promotional classes of the Circuit Championship event.

Celebrities and motoring journalists will also be put to test in the Autocross Challenge.

Since the TGR Vios Cup began in 2014, it has brought the excitement of racing closer to Filipinos by allowing drivers from local professional and amateur teams to compete in one-make races using the locally produced Toyota Vios.

Usually held in the biggest racetrack in the Philippines, the Clark International Speedway, the one-make-race series was also brought to Cebu, Alabang, Pasay, and Taguig in its previous editions.

TMP offers racing classes through the TGR Academy to give Filipinos the chance to pursue their motorsport dreams and revel in the adrenaline-pumping thrill of racing.

In May, aspiring racers had the chance to drive the one-make-race Toyota Vios at the Clark International Speedway while learning the fundamentals of racing from Vios Cup veterans.

Racing fans should also look forward to the bigger and better TGR GT Cup Philippines this year.

The TGR GT Cup Philippines brings together e-motorsports players from across the country to battle to be the fastest e-racer in the Philippines.

The top competitors after three qualifying rounds will compete live in national finals that will be held in a public venue in Manila.

The winners will then be the official representative of the Philippines at the TGR GT Cup Asia Regional Finals where they will be pitted against other champion e-racers from neighboring Asian countries.

The winners of the 2023 season will also be given the opportunity to compete in the TGR Vios Cup next year, advancing their racing skills on real racetracks.

Registration for the 2023 season is free and open to all Filipinos with a Sony PlayStation 4 or 5 with an active PSN Account and PS Plus Subscription.
