Toyota PH to build P4.5-B logistics hub in Batangas
MANILA: Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) is set to inaugurate a P4.5-billion vehicle logistics hub in Batangas in the fourth quarter of 2021.
The 32-hectare logistics center will be located near Batangas Port. It will have a pre-delivery inspection and post production installation amenity that can annually accommodate 160,000 vehicle units with a stockyard that can hold 4,500 units at a time.
In a statement, TMP President Atsuhiro Okamoto said, “TMP remains committed to supporting the goal of the government to stimulate the economy and to prepare for the eventual resumption of motorization in the country. The auto industry is a key driver of economic activity and an essential part of the drive to increase mobility. At the heart of the Batangas Vehicle Logistics Hub is our promise of making ever better cars for our customers. Preserving the quality of our vehicles, from production in various plants all over the world, to delivery dealers and customers, efficient logistics is necessary.”
To guarantee the safety of the workers in any weather condition, the vehicle logistics hub will feature an 18-truck lane covered car carrier loading and unloading area. As Toyota has been an active environmental advocate, six hectares of the logistics facility will be allocated as a "green space."
Toyota is one of only two car companies in the country that retails both locally-crafted and imported units. In 2020, TMP sold over 100,000 units, which is 41% of the market.
