Toyota rakes in 6-M units in worldwide sales from Jan. to Aug.
MANILA: Toyota recently announced its YTD sales, production, and export results as of the end of August 2021. The tallies include figures from Toyota's subsidiaries Daihatsu and Hino Motors.
Toyota also disclosed that it sold 6,612,087 units worldwide from January to August. Roughly five million of the figure came from sales outside Japan, while about one million was accounted for by Japanese sales.
In August, Toyota's records show that its Japan sales have increased, despite declined production brought about by COVID-19 restrictions and the supply shortage.
In Japan, Toyota recorded 112,000 units in sales, which the carmaker credited to the strong sales of the Yaris and Roomy compact MPV.
Worldwide, Toyota tallied 748,893 units sold, up by 3.9% compared to last year. Daihatsu garnered 52,495, an increase of 8%. Hino raked in 12,027, or an increase of 7.4%.
In North America, sales are said to be down by 2% with 188,000 units sold. However, Toyota remains optimistic as sales of the RAV4, Lexus vehicles, and its hybrid cars "continued to be solid."
As for production figures, Toyota was down 12.5% with 632,489 units produced worldwide. Toyota's Japanese production and the combined production of Daihatsu and Hino, likewise saw a decrease.
Exports results show that Toyota and its brands exported 112,832 units, down by 12.3%.
