Toyota ranks as the most Googled car brand in 2022

MANILA: Toyota is the most searched-for automobile brand worldwide in 2022, according to Compare the Market Australia. Toyota has occupied the top spot for the third time in a row.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • How did Toyota become the most Googled car brand in 2022?

Because Toyota was also awarded the most dependable automobile brand of 2022 by consumer non-profit organization Consumer Reports, that is one reason why Toyota has been ranked as the most searched car brand of 2022, Compare The Market Australia observed. “These accolades speak to the marque’s pedigree and reputation for quality, dependable vehicles,” the financial service reasoned.
  • What are the next two most Googled car brands in 2022, according to Compare the Market?

Mercedes and BMW both held onto their spots on the podium from prior campaigns. Since Compare The Market started tracking search patterns in 2018, the German automakers have consistently remained in the top three.
  • The most popular brands in 155 countries were identified by Compare The Market in their fifth iteration of their yearly survey, which included data from Google Trends for 2022.

Toyota, the dominant Japanese automaker, continues to lead all automobile searches in 2022, maintaining its lead from 2021 and 2020. Toyota accounted for 44.5% of all searches, an increase of around 10% from the previous year, and was the most searched-for automobile brand in 69 of the 155 nations.

Because Toyota was also awarded the most dependable automobile brand of 2022 by consumer non-profit organization Consumer Reports, that is one reason why Toyota has been ranked as the most searched car brand of 2022, Compare The Market Australia observed. According to a survey conducted by market research firm Roy Morgan, Toyota is also the most reputable automaker in Australia, Compare The Market Australia said.

“These accolades speak to the marque’s pedigree and reputation for quality, dependable vehicles. In 2022 they also updated or released over 15 different car models, which could be a contributing factor for why interest has remained so high,” the financial service reasoned.

“Yet another reason could be statements by the CEO that ran counter to the hungry demand for electric vehicles (EVs) and zero-emission cars,” Compare The Market added.

While rival automakers have pledged to transition to all-electric vehicles soon, Toyota CEO Akio Toyoda stated that the Japanese automaker would concentrate on offering a variety of powertrains for next cars, including combustion engines.

According to the website, Toyoda claimed that EVs "are just going to take longer than the media would have us believe" and that it "wasn't right" for his business to tell drivers what kinds of cars they can and cannot purchase.

As of November 2022 here in the Philippines, with 156,874 units sold, or 49.79 percent of the market, Toyota Motor Philippines maintained its advantage over the competition. Mitsubishi Motors Philippines came in second with 46,692 units, followed by Ford Motor Philippines came in second with 21,450 units.

Nissan Philippines came in fourth with 19,373 vehicles, and Suzuki Philippines Inc. completed the top five with 18,118 units sold.

According to a joint report from the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA) and the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI), the 26-member association sold 315,337 units, up 31% from the 240,642 units sold during the same time period the previous year.

Sales in the auto industry increased by 32.4 percent in November alone to 35,037 units from 26,456 units reported in the same month last year. The month of December often has the most sales in a year.

Toyota retained in first place, as Mercedes and BMW both held onto their spots on the podium from prior campaigns. Since Compare The Market started tracking search patterns in 2018, the German automakers have consistently remained in the top three, however it seems Mercedes may be slipping.

Mercedes experienced a dip, going from 23 nations to 10 in 2022, while BMW saw an increase from 29 to 36 countries where it was the most sought car brand.

While well-known brands like Toyota, BMW, and Mercedes were well-known all over the world, certain companies are more well-known in particular locales.

Some Middle Eastern and North African nations are big Kia fans. In Egypt, Jordan, Libya, Palestine, Syria, and Uzbekistan, it was the brand that people sought for the most. It was also the brand that was most frequently searched for in other nations, such as Vietnam, India, and Ecuador.

In Scandinavia and nearby parts of Europe, Volvo is well-liked. Its popularity in Finland and Sweden was unsurprising given that both countries are still where the brand's automobiles are made today. In Norway, it was the second-most Googled automaker, while in Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, it was the third-most Googled automaker.

Despite being the most frequently searched automaker on Google in five different countries in 2021, Tesla dropped off the list in 2022 when no countries listed it as their top automaker. In contrast to its success in 2021, Tesla ranked third among automobile brands in searches in Bhutan, French Guiana, and Togo in 2022.

According to Compare The Market Australia, the off-road legend Jeep made the list of the most quirky sought automobile brands. Since Compare the Market began their yearly survey, this is the first time Jeep has been the most searched-for car brand in any nation. Jeep was the most searched-for automobile brand in one country, along with Honda, Peugeot, Lexus, and Suzuki.

While the 4WD brand received excellent news, other automakers that had made the list the year before were dropped. In the past, some countries' most popular car brands were Renault, Rolls Royce, and Mazda, but in 2022, no country named any of those brands as the most popular. They did, however, come up as the second and third most sought brands for several nations, indicating that there is still some interest in these marques, according to Compare The Market.
