Toyota reveals GR Supra GT Cup Asia PH Round 1 winners
MANILA: Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has unveiled the winners of the junior, promotional, and sporting classes of the first round of the GR Supra GT Cup Asia Philippines.
From more than a hundred online racers who joined in the leaderboard challenge, 10 junior, 24 promotional, and 24 sporting class racers became eligible for the semi-final phase. The Round 1 final heat identified the top three racers from every class.
Luis Moreno led the Sporting Class, followed by Mark Voltaire Elman in second place, and Corban Guerrero in third.
For the Promotional Class, Gab Señires bagged the first place, followed by Lance Padilla in second and Lance Guballa in third.
Russell Cabrera led the Junior Class in first place, while Iñigo Anton and Sebastien Soto were in second and third place, respectively.
For the first round, the GR Supra GT Cup Asia Philippines racers were from diverse backgrounds — from casual players to esports professionals.
The tournament had professional racers competing against each other on the real race tracks and others who have been navigating the online race circuits for a certain period.
At present, the Round 1 winners are leading the GR Supra GT Cup Asia Philippines leaderboard. Yet, the next rounds can still change the rankings as Round 2 points will be multiplied by 1.5, while Round 3 points shall be doubled.
The cumulative points and final ranking after Round 3 will define the overall winners of the promotional and sporting groups who will then proceed to represent the Philippines at the Asian Regional Round in October. Another Asian Regional Round contestant will come from the Media and Celebrity Classes that will happen in September.
GR Supra GT Cup Asia Philippines is the first national digital motorsport tournament of TMP, which was organized under the Gazoo Racing brand of Toyota. Races are conducted virtually through the Gran Turismo Sport game on the PlayStation platform.
Registration for the second round will begin on August 2. Round 2 leaderboard challenge will happen on August 20.
The elimination, semifinal, and final races, as long as races for the succeeding two rounds can be viewed on the official Facebook page of TMP here.
For registration in the qualifying rounds, anyone can visit the official website of the Toyota GT Cup here.
