Toyota Rush - Variants explained

Toyota Rush has a certain buzz that never seen to die. This Japanese car has managed to create a strong fan base for itself not only in the Philippines but throughout the globe wherever it is offered. Many factors make people like it so much, one of which is its appealing design.

We must say that Toyota has done a great job with Rush, especially when it comes to its styling and design. And we appreciate it for a car with an affordable tag in the segment. Its sleek full LED headlamps with daytime running lights are of the main attractive features. They not only look great but depict an aggressive look without losing out on the modern appeal.

In a way, they act as a signature element of the car. Together the headlamp and horizontal chrome slats define the Rush front profile. The vehicle stands on striking alloy wheels that sport a very dynamic and sporty design. The rear, like the front, features an ultra-sporty vibe with all the edgy work reflecting on the LED taillights, and roof spoiler with brake lights.

The Toyota Rush specs sheet tells that the SUV measures 4,435 mm in length, 1,695 mm in width, and 1,705 mm in height. One of the best parts about its structure is its high ground clearance of 220 mm; it gives a confident driving position and makes you sit high.

Toyota Rush is available in the Philippines in two trim options - 1.5 G and 1.5 E. The two look almost identical with a few differences. And it’s only because of these slight differences that they get varying price tags. Now, without further delay, let’s find out in detail about the two Rush variants.

Toyota Rush 1.5 E

The 1.5 E is the base model of the Toyota Rush that’s available in the country. It starts at a price of Php 968,000. This model is powered by a 1.5-litre 4-Cylinder In-Line DOHC engine which produces 102 hp of maximum power at 6000 rpm and generates a peak torque of 134 Nm at 4200 rpm. This trim is mated to either a 4-speed automatic or 5-speed manual gearbox.

Toyota offers the base trim of the Rush with five-seat option only, and therefore it lets 514-litre of boot space (more than the 7-seater trim).

The automaker has taken up specific measures to keep the cost in check. The 1.5 E model comes with 16-inch alloy wheels that are wrapped in 215/65 R16 tyres. The radiator grille is done in chrome, and it misses out on roof rail. The suspension and brake profile remains the same in both variants. While the former is taken by MacPherson struts with stabilizer at the front and axle type with 5-link at the rear, the latter includes ventilated discs and leading-trailing drum brakes at the two ends. It has a 3-spoke urethane steering wheel with no mounted controls.

Like the top trim, this one too enjoys on exterior fittings like LED Headlamps with line guide, front fog lamps, fin-type antenna, rear window defogger, rear reflector, LED rear combination lamps with line guide, and LED high mount stop lamps.

The interior gets fabric seats that provide good comfort to the occupants. The steering wheel gets audio control and like the shift lever & knob is wrapped in urethane. One of the striking elements one would find in the Rush cabin is the 2-tone instrument panel centre cluster with chrome. It looks pretty sporty and provides a bunch of information to the driver. The driver seat comes with sliding, reclining, and height adjust function, and the front seat is reclining and sliding. The air-con system on the base model is manual and gets rear blower as well.

The dash features a 7-inch touch screen infotainment system that supports AUX, CD/MP3, USB, Bluetooth, and Weblink Connectivity for iOS and Android. This system is standard across all the Rush trim. Other things that come as standard are push start system, back sensor, and warning signs for door ajar, seatbelt, fuel level, and key reminder. The safety kit includes - SRS airbags (Driver, Passenger, Front Side, and Curtain Shield), ABS with EBD, Traction Control, Hill Start Assist, Emergency Stop Sign, rear door with child protection lock, ISOFIX, keyless entry, and alarm with immobilizer.

Toyota Rush 1.5G

The 1.5 E is the range-topping model of Toyota Rush and thus the most expensive one, priced at Php 1,100,000 million. The biggest difference between the two models is the seating capacity. This variant can fit-in seven occupants with an extra row. It offers less boot space than the 1.5 E trim, that is 213-litre only. Like the former, this variant is also powered by the same 102hp/134 Nm 1.5-liter engine. The transmission is a 4-speed automatic unit, no manual option available.

Over the base trim, this one gets smoke chrome grille, roof rails, 18-inch alloy wheels, leather upholstery, multifunctional steering, automatic air-con system, back monitor with guideline, and eight instead of six-speakers offered in the base model.

Color options include - Silver Mica Metallic, Dark Red Mica Metallic, Bronze Mica Metallic, Bordeaux Mica Metallic, White, and Black Metallic. The base trim misses out on the Bordeaux Mica Metallic.
