Toyota Supra leaked out image reveals the rear design
MANILA: Ahead of its official announcement at the Detroit Motor Show 2019 (North American International Auto Show), another leaked photo of Toyota Supra has made its way online. Earlier in December, a leaked image revealed the front look of the car, and now the new image unveils what the car looks like from the rear.
The fifth-generation Supra is based on the Toyota FT1 concept, which was showcased in 2014 at the same stage in Detroit, and surprisingly, the production-ready model retains almost all the design elements of the FT-1.
After being discontinued from its home market Japan in 2002, the Supra is officially coming back after a long gap of 16 years. Reportedly, this next-gen Supra is the result of the joint project between Toyota and BMW, back in 2012. Hence, this car has noticeable similarities to India-bound BMW Z4.
The leaked image reveals details of the car’s rear design. At the back, it features an integrated ducktail-type rear spoiler with two exhaust pipes of the diffuser. Along with the daytime LED lights, it also comes with LED backlights (L-shaped) and a badge of ‘Supra’ on the back.
Under the hood, the Supra is powered by a mixture of six- and four-cylinder units. The 3-litre bigger straight-six and 2-litre straight-four turbocharged engines, which also power the BMW Z4, churn out 265PS and 340PS powers respectively. The engines are connected with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The Supra might also be offered with a manual gearbox in selected regions.
