Toyota to support Daihatsu in irregularity ordeal

MANILA: Toyota announced that it will “fully support” Daihatsu after the latter’s involvement in irregularity issues last year.

    “Toyota will fully support Daihatsu not only in reviewing its certification operations but also in making fundamental changes in its corporate culture and management so that Daihatsu can once again be trusted and chosen as a company of choice,” Toyota said in a press release.

    Going forward, Toyota stated that it will work with Daihatsu to carefully respond to the concerns of their customers, suppliers, and dealers in a courteous and polite manner.

    Further, Toyota noted that it will issue a report regarding the revitalization and transformation of the Daihatsu brand in about one month.

    Toyota owners and car buyers in the Philippines need not worry about the quality and safety of the vehicles sold locally.

    The brand’s local wing clarified that the automobiles sold here in the country were not affected by the said irregularities.

    “Toyota Motor Corporation (Toyota) was notified that there is no case of certification irregularity for vehicles being sold in the Philippines,” Toyota Motor Philippines said in a press statement.
