How many Toyota Veloz units were turned into Joyride Super Taxi?
Joyride Philippines initially rolled out 25 Toyota Veloz units in Metro Manila. What powers the Toyota Veloz?
The Toyota Veloz is powered by a four-cylinder in-line 16-valve, double overhead cam 1.5-liter gasoline engine with dual variable valve timing with intelligence technology mated to a continuous variable transmission.Joyride President Neil Sherwin Yu made the confirmation to reporters during a press conference.
According to Joyride Philippines Senior Vice President for Corporate Affairs Noli Eala, the company will deploy an initial fleet of 25 units that will serve the Metro Manila market — with plans of growing the number by next year.
Taking inspiration from the JPN Taxi in Japan, the Joyride Super Taxi will have a uniform black paint. Every unit also boasts a spacious five-seater cabin that ensures a comfortable and enjoyable ride.
Every Super Taxi vehicle — which can be hailed directly on the street or via the existing Joyride app — wears a distinguishing logo on the sides, a modern digital top light, as well as onboard amenities like an in-cabin entertainment system.
“The public can enjoy all these features of Joyride Super Taxi without any fare increase, as the service will still be classified as a regular metered taxi or what we call ‘De-Metrong’ Kasundo,” Eala explained.
Powering the Toyota Veloz is a four-cylinder in-line 16-valve, double overhead cam 1.5-liter gasoline engine with dual variable valve timing with intelligence technology that can provide 105 horsepower and 138 Newton-meters of torque. Assuring smooth shifts is the continuous variable transmission.
Further, the aforementioned model — which was introduced in the Philippine market in 2022 — sits on 17-inch alloy wheels and wrapped in 50R17 tires.
On paper, the Toyota Veloz is 4,475 millimeters (mm) long, 1,775 mm wide, and 1,770 mm tall. Offered in three variants namely the E (entry level), G (mid-grade), and V (top of the line), the vehicle’s retail price ranges from P1.092-1.265 million.
Further, Eala expressed confidence in the newly-launched model and is looking forward to a positive response from the commuting public. “It brings us great joy to announce that starting today, passengers can take advantage of Joyride Super Taxi, just in time for the upcoming holiday season as everyone prepares to navigate the holiday rush,” he added.
