MANILA: Starting next month, Masao Tsutsumi will be leading Nissan Philippines Incorporated (NPI).

    Per NPI, the upcoming executive’s official inauguration will be made after his qualification under Philippine Laws, and the confirmation and election by the firm’s Board of Directors.

    Tsutsumi, prior to his forthcoming role in the country, is the current senior vice president of Nissan Motor Thailand. His role there (which took effect in April 1, 2024) includes overseeing the following:

    • Human Resources and Administration
    • Communications
    • External and Government Affairs
    • Legal
    • Information System
    • Corporate Planning

    The Japanese marque’s local arm shared that Tsutsumi has more than 20 years of experience in Marketing, Brand, Sales and Aftersales across various industries such as fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), technology and electronics, and food services.

    Tsutsumi’s stint in Nissan began in 2018 under the Japan Brand and Media Strategy and became part of the ASEAN Market in 2021.

    The incoming executive shall replace outgoing company president Yasuhisa Masuda, who will be the next chief operating officer of Renault Japon Company, Limited.

    It was during Masuda’s leadership that Nissan Philippines launched the Z NismoAlmera Sport variant, and the upcoming all-new Patrol. At the same time, the company was able to further its reach by opening four new dealerships.

    Further, Masuda also introduced the brand philosophy “Always Daring” to the local market and celebrated Nissan’s 55th anniversary in the country.
