Twin stars: Suzuki PH presents all-new XL7 and S-Presso

MANILA: The secret had been out; the market’s curiosity had been piqued. But Covid-19 had other plans, and so, just like events and plans around the world, the twin launch of Suzuki’s all-new, genre-bending XL7 multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) and S-Presso micro-SUV had been thwarted.

But Suzuki Philippines, Inc. (SPH) isn’t going to keep this bottled up officially for long, so it sent out details and photos about the new joiners to its portfolio – now available when everything is back to normal.

“The newest addition to our SUVs, the XL7, perfectly fuses exterior aesthetic and dynamic interior with its seating capacity that can accommodate seven passengers. The S-Presso that proudly boasts of the iconic Suzuki SUV design is perfect for our customers who appreciate compact cars that deliver excellent engine performance made to match their needs when it comes to conquering daily challenges on the road,” said Suzuki Philippines vice president and general manager for automobile division Keiichi Suzuki in a release.

MPV/SUV hybrid

The all-new Suzuki XL7 is powered by the Japanese automaker’s K15B engine which puts out 103 horses at 6,000rpm and 138Nm from 4,400rpm. It bears a bold, dynamic design which extends to the interior styling. The seven-seater has flexible seating with ample room for even third-row passengers, promises Suzuki. Total maximum luggage capacity is 199 liters.

Features include a rear sensor and rear camera, advanced multi-information LCD display, automatic aircon controls, and keyless push start function. Its infotainment system highlights a 10-inch screen, and the system is given Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. The XL7 is also equipped with ventilated cup holders.

The vehicle has dual airbags, anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution, and an electronic stability program.

The XL7 is built on Suzuki’s new-generation HEARTECT platform which the carmaker says enables “an optimum driving experience… due to weight reduction.” It also improves NVH (noise, vibration, and harshness) levels while maximizing cabin space. In case of a collision, the platform “effectively disperses energy… for better safety.”

The Suzuki XL7 is priced at P1.068 million and comes in Brave Khaki and Snow White both in pearl finish, and Magma Gray and Sunrise Orange in metallic finish.

Jimny lite?

The Suzuki S-Presso reflects a contemporary take on Suzuki’s familiar SUV design. It sits high off the ground, and sports a profile akin to its more premium Jimny sibling. The “classic Suzuki SUV look” is furthered by its lamp design and signature C design tail lamps.

Under the hood is a fuel-efficient 1.0-liter K10B engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission. Its luggage capacity is a surprising 239 liters, according to Suzuki.

Interior accoutrements include storage spaces for bottles, cupholders, air-conditioning with heater control, and front power windows. The S-Presso highlights so-called a Total Effective Control Technology (TECT) body, which “scatters collision energy across the vehicle frame to mitigate damage to the car and passengers.” Other safety features of the S-Presso include dual airbags, rear parking assist, and anti-brake locking systems.

The all-new Suzuki S-presso is priced at P518,000 is available in Sizzle Orange, Fire Red, Metallic Granite Gray, and Metallic Silky Silver. For more information about Suzuki Philippines and its automobiles, visit www.suzuki.com.ph or like www.facebook.com/SuzukiAutoPH.
