MANILA: Lynk and Co has officially entered the Philippine market.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
What company distributes Lynk and Co in the Philippines?
Lynk and Co Philippines is under United Asia Automotive Group Incorporated. What are the initial models under Lynk and Co Philippines?
The initial Lynk and Co Philippines lineup is made up of the 01 and 06.The brand’s distributorship was not under Sojitz G Auto Philippines (Geely’s local arm) nor Scandinavian Motors Corporation (Volvo’s distributor in the country) as the newest automotive brand has joined the United Asia Automotive Group Incorporated’s (UAAGI) stable.
UAAGI — which is under the helm of its chair, Rommel Sytin — handles the distributorships of both Chery and Foton.
Steering Lynk and Co Philippines’ direction in the country are UAAGI chief marketing executive and senior vice president Lyn Buena and Group Managing Director Froilan Dytianquin.
Backed with her years of experience in the local automotive industry, Buena was the then external vice president and director for marketing and communications of The Covenant Car Company, Incorporated (the firm that distributes Chevrolet and KG Mobility locally).
Lynk and Co earlier claimed that more than 600,000 vehicles were already delivered to buyers since its inception in Berlin back in 2016.
Lynk and Co’s initial roster
Meanwhile, Lynk and Co Philippines’ initial lineup will be made up of the two models namely the 01 and 06.
No details about the vehicles were released during the brand launch but here are some bits of initial information about the two.
Powering the Lynk and Co 01 is a 1.5-liter engine with a plug-in hybrid electric motor and battery that can be juiced up using AC Type 2 Charger. This is matched to a seven-speed wet dual clutch transmission.
The powertrain is said to dish out 260 horsepower with 265 Newton-meters of torque, while its all-electric range is up to 69 kilometers.
Among the significant exterior features are the Aurora Borealis daytime running lamps, Energy Cube LED rear lights, and two-tone aluminum alloy wheels.
Its cabin, on the other hand, has a flat-bottom leather steering wheel, a12.3-inch fully digital instrument panel, and a 12.7-inch infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity.
Its indicative pricing as of posting is 2.4 million.
Meanwhile, the Lynk and Co 06 uses an internal combustion mill — probably a 1.5-liter version as seen in other markets. Should such be correct, the vehicle can produce 170 horses and 265 Nm of pulling power.
Outside, the compact sport utility vehicle wears the illumination system as with its crossover sibling. At the side are Z-shaped beltlines, a panoramic sunroof, power tailgate, and dual chrome exhaust pipes.
Further, safety technologies of the Lynk and Co 06 (which will likely be present in the 01) could include a 540-degree panoramic camera, forward collision warning with autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, lane change assist, and intelligent adaptive cruise control with traffic jam assist.
The possible price tag of the 06 is within the P1.5 million range.
Lynk and Co Philippines will serve all the details about the two models at the 2024 Manila International Auto Show.
