Volkswagen Finally Name the New CEO, Matthias Müller
MANILA: Following the Winkerton's resignation last Wednesday, the VW Group had a big responsibility to choose for new CEO wherein till last Friday, they were considering the appointment of Matthias Müller and then finally moved forward with him as a new CEO with his new strategy shift.
Along with VW, Müller will be running Porsche simultaneously until a new CEO is found for this Sports car brand. Another major changes under the German hut include appointment of Skoda boss, Winfried Vahland (58) to head Volkswagen Group of America, the root of the scandal. The Audi Executive, Luca de Meo (48) will be taking the job of running seat. Thus, this major restructuring at the top of VW is all an attempt to repair the tarnished image due to rigged emission tests.
The first task for Müller would be to gain back consumer trust for the VW brand and for this he plans to do so by "leaving no stone unturned and with maximum transparency, as well as drawing the right conclusions from the current situation." This along with rebuilding the culture would be two challenges for Müller right now.
"Under my leadership, Volkswagen will do everything it can to develop and implement the most stringent compliance and governance standards in our industry. If we manage to achieve that then the Volkswagen Group with its innovative strength, its strong brands and above all its competent and highly motivated team has the opportunity to emerge from this crisis stronger than before", said Müller who will take the charge of Volkswagen Auto Group from today until his contract ends on February 2020.
