The Project Trinity car is slated to have more than 700 kilometers of range and autonomous driving tech. The new factory will build what Volkswagen calls "Project Trinity," the brand's flagship EV slated to be launched in 2026.
The VW Group said that the construction of the Trinity plant is to begin as early as spring 2023, "meet high environmental standards," and become a "model for the gradual transformation of production at the main Wolfsburg plant... and other Volkswagen manufacturing sites worldwide.”
As a result, the Trinity model will be built using the "most innovative manufacturing methods," "optimized processes," and a production time of 10 hours per vehicle.
To achieve this, the car should have fewer variants and components, more automation and new logistic concepts in the production line, Volkswagen reckons.
As for the Project Trinity, the German automaker disclosed that the model is promised to achieve “a much shorter charging time” and “a range of over 700 kilometers.”
The EVs in the project will be fitted with VW's state-of-the-art software such as autonomous driving Level 4. Over its lifetime, more than 40 million vehicles are projected on this project, the carmaker said.
