Volkswagen Multivan earns 5-star safety rating from Euro NCAP

MANILA: The 2022 Volkswagen Multivan scored the highest rating of five stars at the prestigious Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment Programme) for the MPV's crash safety and its driver  assistance systems. 

Introduced for the European market last year, the new Multivan has already won over numerous customers, testers and design juries, Volkswagen said in a statement. 

The 2022 Multivan also impressed the testers of the European testing organization Euro NCAP. In the third round of testing this year, the MPV's five-star rating represents an outstanding overall mark for impact protection, and shows that the vehicle is safe, thanks to its extensive, practical crash avoidance technology.

The Multivan is equipped as standard with a driver airbag, a front-seat passenger airbag, a center airbag and side airbags in the cockpit, plus curtain airbags all the way back to the third row of seats.

As the airbags are combined with the corresponding layout of the body structure, the redesigned business and family MPV achieves 90% of the maximum possible rating points for adult occupant protection.

In the area of child safety, the numerous options for fitting child seats were also assessed, being a crucial category for any MPV. In this category, the new Multivan achieved a rating of 89%. 

Euro NCAP also places great importance on accident avoidance. The Multivan's 25-plus driver assist systems passed the tests performed by the Euro NCAP, resulting in an 87% possible ratings points achieved by the MPV in the ‘Safety Assist’ ranking.
