Volkswagen PH is Ateneo’s mobility partner for UAAP Season 86 3x3 basketball tourney

MANILA: Two Volkswagen vehicles shall be the Ateneo Blue Eagles’ mode of transportation for the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 86 3x3 Basketball Tournament.

The Katipunan-based athletes will drive the T-Cross and Lamando to and from games that will be held from May 2-5, 2024 at Ayala Malls Manila Bay. 

“Volkswagen Philippines proudly supports the Ateneo Men’s and Women’s 3x3 Basketball Teams in UAAP Season 86,” Volkswagen Philippines Chief Operating Officer Josh Altarejos said.

“The Ateneo Basketball team’s pursuit of excellence is a trait Volkswagen’s German-engineered lineup equally projects. With the Ateneo Blue Eagles’ championship pedigree, we are confident that they will positively impact the sport this year, in the same way the Volkswagen brand creates fun and memorable experiences for its owners everywhere,” he added.

For his part, Ateneo Athletic Director Emmanuel Fernandez expressed gratitude for the partnership.

“The 3x3 Basketball Tournament highlights a different way of playing the country’s most popular sport. Driving worry-free to and from the games with the three stand-out and stylish Volkswagen models will give them the additional confidence they need going into the tournament. Together with Volkswagen Philippines, we aim to embody excellence in our game this year,” Fernandez shared.

T-Cross

Per Volkswagen Philippines, the T-Cross serves as an “ideal ride for the youthful and energetic Ateneo Blue Eagles.”

“Its everyday practicality is matched by a unique and distinctive design that combines European maturity with modern dynamism and a desire for adventure,” the company shared.

The crossover offers an interior cargo space of 329-1,319 liters which provides freedom and versatility to its users.

It also has a myriad of amenities that include an Apple CarPlay-ready 9.2-inch infotainment system, an Active Info Display for the driver, and USB-C ports for rear passengers, just below the rear air conditioning vents.

Under the small sport utility vehicle’s hood is a 1.5-liter 180 MPI BlueMotion engine that can deliver up to 111 horsepower and 145 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque.

The Volkswagen T-Cross 180 MPI AT SE wears a price tag of P1.34 million.

Lamando

Meanwhile, the Ayala-backed automotive distributor said that the Volkswagen Lamando is a perfect match for the Ateneo Blue Eagles as it is an executive sedan that “exudes success and celebrates accomplishments.” 

Powering the German-engineered vehicle is a 1.4-liter turbocharged 280 TSI mill that has a peak churn of 148 horses and 250 Nm. The aforementioned engine is mated to a seven-speed direct shift gearbox.

Among its enjoyable features fitted inside its cabin are the plush leather seats, Climatronic dual-zone air conditioning system (with pollen filter) adaptive cruise control and a panoramic sunroof.

Available in two trims namely the SE and SEL, the Volkswagen Lamando 280 TSI DSG is priced P1.619 million-P1.753 million.

All Volkswagen offerings are covered by a once-a-year or every 10,000 kilometers periodic maintenance service, a three-year or 100,000-kilometer vehicle warranty, and free one-year 24/7 emergency roadside assistance.
