Volkswagen's Next CEO can be Matthias Muller
MANILA: The sky was not yet clear for Volkswagen and its CEO, Winterkorn left the brand. To fill the post again 3 candidates are shortlisted, Rupert Stadler – the CEO of Audi AG, Matthias Muller – the CEO of Porsche AG and Herbert Diess – the Head of Brand for VW. The maximum chances of holding the chariot is of Matthias Muller although an official announcement at VW's board meeting on Friday.
62 years in age, Muller has lead Porsche since October 1, 2010 wherein he executed the expansion of the brand very well. He is a former head of the VW Product Strategy and joined the VW management board in March. Heading the Audi and Lamborghini product lines are other feathers of his hat. His name is not only supported by majority of VW employees but is also considered the best candidature by Board of Directors, may be the most suitable to substitute Winterkorn.
Arndt Ellinghorst – an analyst at Evercore ISI banking, stated, "He is the best option even though it came as a CEO transition. The arrival of Muller will be able to change the leadership of VW and establish VW as a performance-based company.”
The taking over of 78-year old industrial empire will be a challenge for Muller. Will under his guidance and strategy the black clouds will shed away soon? Will the brand be able overcome the cumulative loss of 254 billion till date? Will it be able to successfully replace 11 million vehicles that are fitted with 'defeat devices'? Will Muller restore the lost image of Volkswagen? The answers will come soon.
