Volvo teams up with Microsoft to offer advanced next-gen auto tech
MANILA: In the recent times, Volvo Cars has improved considerably following investment into technologies for future cars that include features like autonomous driving and advanced devices in order to bring better automobiles. Finally, The automaker has joined hands with Microsoft to work on new technologies that will bring a revolution in the future Volvo cars. The technology will enhance the overall driving experience and fulfill all needs of the buyers.
Currently, Volvo is looking for possibilities to integrate Microsoft’s HoloLens in order to facilitate the customers to explore the car. Microsoft's HoloLens is a human wearable augmented reality device that will project the vehicle in 3-D. It will facilitate the automakers to organize sales events in malls or pocket areas in order to reach large number of people.
"HoloLens is a high end technology that facilitates the users to explore cars and allow them to understand the features and available services in a better manner,” said Björn Annwall, Senior Vice President, Marketing, Sales and Service at Volvo Cars.
"We feel proud in working with Volvo Cars. It allows us to figure out the hidden possibilities in car design and purchasing. We are excited to be the part of this collaboration of technology and human-oriented design with Volvo," said Scott Erickson, Senior Director, Microsoft HoloLens at Microsoft Corp.
Volvo is also set to organize world's largest autonomous driving experiment ‘Drive-Me’ event in 2017. Volvo will allow customers to test drive 100 autonomous and connected cars before taking it to the roads of Gothenburg in Sweden.
Moreover, Microsoft will help Volvo in gathering information from automobiles and drivers using predictive analytics that will ensure better driving experience.
