Pamela Talley, a Chevrolet Bolt owner from Colorado, USA, had her garage transformed into an in-home convenience store through the collaboration between Chevrolet and celebrity designer and builder Wendell Holland, known for his popular television shows on home design. Chevrolet even conducted a social media poll to know its followers' favorite gas station snacks, which it then incorporated into the makeover. Talley's garage now comes with gas station staples such as frozen drink machine, hotdog warmer, beef jerky buffet, chips, candies, a drink refrigerator, and more.
“I've seen firsthand how homeowners are evolving their space to fit the EV lifestyle, so collaborating with Chevy on this garage transformation was a seamless fit. To create the ultimate garage space for Pamela, we incorporated inspiration from beloved gas station snacks and transformed the space into a modern oasis for EV living,” Holland stated.
Chevrolet is helping EV owners in realizing the potential to redesign their own garage as many customers are now considering the switch to electric vehicles. In fact, Chevrolet is simplifying home charging for Bolt EV and Bolt EUV owners. Chevrolet will cover the standard installation of a Level 2 charging outlet for eligible buyers of Bolt EV or Bolt EUV.
“One of the best features of living with an EV is charging, or ‘refueling,’ at home. We want to provide Chevy customers the seamless ability to enjoy charging at home as we bring more electric vehicles to market. This garage makeover is one example of the creative ways EV drivers can enjoy what they miss by skipping the gas station,” Chevrolet Marketing Vice President Steve Majoros said.
While home charging is essential to EV owners, GM is also investing almost US$750 million in the EV charging network through Ultium Charge 360. This investment will give more people access to charging at home, at work, in public areas around town, in urban areas, and at highway fast-charging stations, supporting long-distance electric driving. A Chevrolet customer using the myChevrolet mobile app now has access to more than 100,000 public charging stations in the US through its integration with more than 11 major charging networks.
