WATCH: Ford Bronco, Bronco Sport Heritage models celebrate predecessor

MANILA: With the 2023 Bronco and Bronco Sport Heritage and Heritage Limited editions of Ford's Bronco brand, the SUVs return trail riders back to their off-road beginnings.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What are the design cues found in the Ford Bronco and Bronco Sport Heritage Edition models pay homage to their predecessor?

With a contemporary twist, classic design cues from the 1966 Bronco, such as the Oxford White paint on the roof, grille, and wheels and the Bronco script fender graphics are given to these SUVs.
  • What are the colors available on the Ford Bronco and Bronco Sport Heritage Edition SUVs?

Enthusiasts can select from a special palette of exterior colors that include the Bronco heritage-inspired Robin’s Egg Blue and Yellowstone Metallic for Heritage Limited Edition models.
  • The limited-edition versions will be offered on every Ford Bronco model, including the two-door, four-door, and sport utility vehicles. For each Heritage Limited Edition vehicle, Ford will only produce 1,966 units each to honor the year the original Bronco made its debut.

“Bronco captivated America in the mid-’60s with its rugged style and uncompromising off-road agility, a legacy that is still prevalent today,” Bronco Marketing Manager Mark Grueber recalled.

“With these new Heritage and Heritage Limited editions, we’re paying respect to Bronco’s roots with nods to some of the signature design cues from the first-generation vehicle, while continuing to build the Bronco Brand with more special editions that our customers want.”

In the US, all buyers can now order the 2023 Bronco Sport Heritage and Heritage Limited edition automobiles. Later this year, the two- and four-door Bronco versions will go on sale, with first orders given preference to those who have already placed a Bronco order and are waiting for their car. Next year, orders will be available to everyone, regardless of the state of their reservations right now.

The two-tone paint scheme on the Bronco two- and four-door Heritage versions, which has distinctive Oxford White details like the modular hardtop roof, is stunning. While 17-inch aluminum heritage wheels painted in Oxford White and a body side stripe increase the retro appeal, a distinctive Oxford White grille with Race Red "Ford'' writing completes the vintage look.

The squared fenders with Sasquatch-width fender flares, which are reminiscent of the 1960s, give the car a retro look while covering the approximately two-inch wider track. The front bumper is made of capable powder-coated steel and comes standard with integrated fog lamps and built-in recovery points.

Ford Bronco Heritage Limited models also feature an Oxford White-painted lip for added throwback appeal, along with 17-inch heritage wheels finished in gloss black with traditional "dog dish" centers.

Inside, Bronco Heritage Edition models have exclusive details including Oxford White instrument panels, center console badging, and unique front and rear floor liners, as well as plaid fabric seats.

Big Bend series equipment and features, such as a 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine with a seven-speed manual transmission or an optional 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission, are standard on Bronco Heritage Edition cars. The engine can produce up to 300hp and 325lb.-ft. of torque.

Along with 35-inch Goodyear mud-terrain tires, Dana front and rear electronic locking axles, and a 4.7:1 final drive ratio, the Sasquatch Package includes a High-Performance Off-Road Stability Suspension (HOSS) 2.0 system with long-travel Bilstein position-sensitive dampers with end-stop control valves and increased ride height as standard equipment.

Bronco Heritage Edition is available in five paint options, while Bronco Heritage Limited Edition is exclusively available at launch in Robin’s Egg Blue, which is a throwback color based on Arcadian Blue, available on the original Bronco in 1966.

The color Yellowstone Metallic, which is based on the 1971 Ford color Prairie Yellow, is planned for late 2023 model year availability. Peak Blue is planned for the 2024 model year.

Heritage Limited Edition models offer the increased capability of Badlands series equipment and features, including a 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 engine with up to 330hp and 415lb.-ft. torque mated to the 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission. They are also differentiated with features that include metal “Bronco” script fender badging, leather-trimmed/vinyl plaid seats with white and Race Red accent stitching and unique Heritage Limited console badging.

    Ford Bronco Sport Heritage Edition

The Ford Bronco Sport offers clients the option to appreciate the brand's past with distinct Heritage and Heritage Limited Edition style, despite the fact that it was not a member of the Bronco family in the 1960s.

All Bronco Sport Heritage vehicles have distinctive Oxford White details, such as a specially painted roof that evokes the look of the original Bronco. Oxford White 17-inch aluminum history wheels and body side stripes enhance the retro image, which is further highlighted by a distinctive Oxford White heritage grille with Race Red "Bronco" lettering.

Both models have interior features like plaid-patterned seats and instrument panels in Navy Pier with Oxford White accents on the bin and door ring. Navy Pier with plaid inserts and accent stitching in Race Red and Robin's Egg Blue are features of the fabric seats. Race Red stitching is featured on a distinctive Navy Pier micro suede center console and armrests.

Navy Pier straps and Race Red zipper grips are part of the Bronco Sport Molle strap storage system that is installed on the front-row seatbacks. The 1980s fabric seats offered in Bronco served as the source of inspiration for the Navy Pier color.

    Ford Bronco Sport Heritage Edition

Like the full-size Bronco SUVs, the 2023 Bronco Sport Heritage Edition is built on the Big Bend series, with the proven 1.5-liter EcoBoost engine that puts out 181hp and 190lb.-ft. of torque.

The vehicles feature a HOSS system with increased ride height, uniquely tuned front struts with hydraulic rebound stops designed to provide a quiet, less jarring off-road experience. In addition, 46-millimeter-diameter monotube rear shocks, anti-roll bars and uniquely tuned springs help provide off-road comfort.

The Terrain Management System offers five GOAT Modes because the Bronco “Goes Over Any Type of Terrain” and in various conditions. Standard modes include Normal, Eco, Sport, Slippery, and Sand.

Robin's Egg Blue is one of the seven paint options available for the Bronco Sport Heritage Edition, as well as Peak Blue and Yellowstone Metallic.

For enhanced off-road traction, Heritage Limited Edition versions feature larger 29-inch all-terrain off-road tires with more aggressive, deeper treads that extend onto the sidewalls as well as metal "Bronco" script front fender badging. Inside, Oxford White door inserts, distinctive center console badging, and leather-trimmed seats are also upgrades on Heritage Limited Edition cars.

These SUV models are powered by increased performance and off-road capability of the Badlands series, including the more powerful two-liter EcoBoost engine with up to 250 horsepower and 277lb.-ft. of torque for high-speed off-road performance.

An advanced 4x4 system with a twin-clutch rear-drive unit with a differential lock can divert virtually all rear axle torque to either wheel, and the GOAT Modes system increases to seven modes, adding Mud/Ruts and Rock Crawl.

The Bronco Sport Heritage Edition will start at US$34,245 and the Heritage Limited starts at US$44,655. Bronco Heritage will start at US$44,305 and Heritage Limited will be priced at US$66,895.
