Why Mini Should Always be mini?
MANILA: BMW's division of small cars, Mini has maintained its charisma of small rockets on wheels for quite a long time but is gradually trying to overcome its miniature character, as it is reported that the brand is keen on making larger size models. Does that mean that the Mini Clubman will soon lose its tag of being the largest model of this brand?
According to Company’s Senior Vice president, Sebastien Mackensen, there are no size limitations for Mini automobiles wherein it is more than just a car which has no limits for its progress or advancement. “I'm not sure who set the traditional size limits for what a Mini should be? Mini doesn't have to mean small in size. We shouldn't limit ourselves, although I would add that I wouldn't expect anything larger from us anytime soon,” said Mackensen.
“Sometimes in life you get used to something and then it moves on. Habit can be hard to challenge, but when you get used to the new thing you can often see new benefits as you adapt.” Although, he also mentioned that sentiments of potential customers will be considered before going for any larger models.
The largest Mini produced till date is recently launched Clubman which measures 4253 mm long, 1800 mm wide, and 1441 mm tall which when compared to Countryman crossover is 162 mm longer, 11 mm wider and 1200 taller. Moreover, it is also known that Mini is working on a replacement of its current Countryman which may take form of an authentic SUV.
