Why not? Huawei Seres SF5 Coupe unveiled in China

MANILA: At the 19th Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition, Huawei debuted of an extended range electric vehicle, the Seres SF5, which will be available for test drive in Huawei's leading stores in China beginning April 21.

For the first time, Huawei introduced a vehicle partner to its “1+8+N” ecosystem — the Seres, an automotive company in China.

Executive Director and CEO of the Consumer Business Group of Huawei, Richard Yu said, “This exciting announcement sets a precedent for both the consumer electronics industry and the new energy vehicle industry. In the future, we will not only provide leading smart car solutions to help partners build better intelligent vehicles, but also help them sell those vehicles through our retail network across China."

As a response to the recharging and range anxieties of most customers about electric vehicles (EVs), Huawei and Seres have developed a new electric drive range extension system, which is fitted with Huawei DriveOne Three-in-One Electric Drive. The system is not only deemed as the most efficient option for minimizing range anxiety, but it also brings world-class coupe performance.

The new Seres SF5 provides customers with versatility, with a range of 150 km in pure electric mode to address the needs of regular city commuters and a range of more than 1,000 km in extended range mode, specifically for those who drive long distances.

The lightweight aluminum frame, the trapezoidal multi-link rear suspension, and the four-ball joint double-wishbone front suspension all contribute to the vehicle performance. This allows the new SF5 to be a performance monster, resulting in faster acceleration while also offering more excellent shock absorption and stable tilt control.

The flexible strength of the new Seres SF5 is compliant with five-star safety design standards. This is because the vehicle has a body that is made of reliable and robust ultra-high-strength 1500Mpa thermoformed steel.

Huawei HiCar solutions allow users to easily shift between their mobile phone apps to the central control panel of the car. This provides access to music, navigation, and other features at any given time and place.

The world-class coupe also offers completely new user experiences like the seamless and continuous music on a driver’s phone whenever they get inside the vehicle. It also offers interactive voice control, which enables users to focus solely on driving.

Huawei HiCar can also establish a connection between other smart devices and the vehicle so that users can conveniently switch on smart screen, air condition, as well as other connected devices at home.

The three-dimensional surround audio system of the vehicle is composed of 11 sound units that are tuned by the acoustic specialists and core technicians of Huawei Sound.

The audio system, when combined with the ideal noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) solution of the vehicle — a library-level silence of 38 decibels (dB) — brings immersive and real opera-like sound quality.

Users who experience urban congestion are expected to have less worries about long-distance driving because of features such as full speed domain adaptive cruise control, traffic congestion assistance, L2+ level automatic assisted driving, and other features.

The new Seres SF5 is fitted with a vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) rescue recharge mode, which can offer emergency power to vehicles that are isolated in the wilderness. It also gives vehicle-to-load (V2L) camping power supply mode to provide power to stereos, induction cookers, and other equipment used in camping or outdoor picnic.

Aside from this, the front row is fitted with elegant and sporty seats with massage, heating, and ventilation functions, as well as an intimate smart welcome mode that promotes convenience and comfort in getting in and out of the vehicle.

The new Seres SF5 will be available in China in four colorways, namely, Titanium Silver Grey, Pearl White, Charcoal Black, and Deep Ocean Pearl, together with Ivory White, Garnet Red, and Midnight Black interior trims.
