Would you like to see this Toyota GR86 Limited Edition in PH?

MANILA: After its initial global reveal a few months ago, the Toyota Gazoo Racing (GR)86 Limited Edition variant is now scheduled to launch in the Australian market in December 2024. 

For folks who are unfamiliar, the GR86 Limited Edition represents the pinnacle of the said nameplate’s style and performance. As such, many Philippine-based fans of the nameplate might want to see the special GR86 variant on local roads as well.

With only 86 units of the model to be built, the special Toyota model received a unique Forest Shadow (Ridge Green in other markets) paint job paired with bronze-colored 18-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels. 

Its interior, meanwhile, provides added plushness thanks to leather-accented Ultrasuede upholstery combined with contrasting tan leather on the vehicle’s seats, shifter, steering wheel, and door trims. 

On the mechanical side, the limited edition version of the two-door coupe was equipped with four-piston front and two-piston rear Brembo calipers. Along with the inclusion of a “Dynamic Performance Pack,” the said variant likewise sports a set of ZF Sachs sports dampers for improved handling and comfort. 

Additional responsiveness for the sports car was squeezed out via a revised throttle map. Like the standard version, however, the GR86 Limited Edition can still output 232 horsepower and 250 Newton-meters of torque. It also carried over a limited-split differential and the same six-speed manual or automatic transmission options. 

In the Land Down Under, the Toyota GR86 Limited Edition trim will be sold at 49,600 AUD or around P1.923 million at current exchange rates. 

In the context of the Philippine market, the locally available versions of the Toyota GR86 are priced at P2.516 million for the manual version and P2.755 million for the automatic version.

To note, the aforementioned GR model has a relatively significant following in the local setting. It is a common sight at events such as the Toyota GR Festival and the Toyota GR Philippine Cup, and it has appeared in numerous car shows and other local motorsports gatherings as well. 

So relatedly, many Filipino fans of the model might want to see the GR86 Limited Edition variant added to Toyota Motor Philippines’ lineup.
