From The Experts
Things we like
|
Efficient tourer: The Ford Everest is a great highway cruiser. It offers a well-balanced constant speed on the highway. Build quality: The Everest is a true-blue SUV and has a solid build quality. The body is manufactured from high-grade iron that provides a safe drive. Great powertrain: The 2.0-litre bi-turbocharged diesel engine along with the 10-speed AT creates a potent powertrain that shows its colors on the highway. Comfortable: The cabin has ample space to carry seven passengers. Unlike compact SUVs, there’s no shortage of space inside Everest. |
Rugged and stylish design: The Toyota Fortuner features a bold and aggressive design, making it stand out on the road while maintaining its reputation as a durable SUV. Off-road capabilities: With its high ground clearance, 4x4 variants, and robust suspension, the Fortuner is well-equipped to tackle off-road terrains with ease. Spacious and comfortable interior: The Fortuner offers a roomy cabin with ample space for up to seven passengers and a versatile seating configuration to accommodate various cargo needs. Reliable performance: Powered by either a 2.4-litre or a 2.8-litre diesel engine, the Fortuner provides dependable performance and excellent towing capabilities. Good resale value: As a popular and well-regarded SUV in the Philippines, the Toyota Fortuner tends to hold its resale value well, making it a sound investment for potential buyers. |
Things we don't like
|
Tight city handling: Since Everest is a big car, handling it within the city isn’t easy. It requires some practice. Compact SUVs can be more easily negotiated. Expensive: Everest is the most expensive vehicle in its class. There are several better options that offer the same comfort and features at a lesser price. Noisy: While the powertrain itself is efficient, it does get noisy at times, especially during revving and cruising. Ford should look into this. Less refinement: Everest’s engine isn’t too refined at a higher rpm. There’s a bit of vibration as the car peaks out the maximum power. |
Fuel efficiency: While the diesel engines provide decent fuel efficiency, the Fortuner may not be as fuel-efficient as some of its competitors, especially in urban driving conditions. Ride quality: The Fortuner's body-on-frame construction and rugged suspension can result in a somewhat firm ride, which may be less comfortable for some passengers, particularly on longer journeys. Price: The Toyota Fortuner is priced relatively high compared to some of its competitors, such as the Isuzu mu-X or the Mitsubishi Montero Sport, which could be a factor for budget-conscious buyers. Cabin Style: Fortuner's design is sturdy but with time it is aging and needs a refreshed styling to appeal to its loyal fans. Competitors have already put their best foot forward. Maneuverability: Due to its large size and body-on-frame construction, the Fortuner may not be as easy to maneuver or park in tight spaces, especially in urban environments. Advanced Features: Features like a 360-degree camera, sunroof/moonroof, and ADAS features are missing at this price point. |
