    Suzuki V-Strom 250 SX

The Suzuki V-Strom 250 SX is the series’ model with the smallest engine displacement. Despite packing a small-sized powerplant, it does offer quite a punch.

At its core is a 249 cubic centimeter (cc) gasoline mill mated to a six-speed constant mesh transmission system. The four-stroke, one-cylinder, four-valve single overhead camshaft engine makes 26 horses with 22 Newton-meters of pulling power.

Reflecting its decent capabilities is a relatively aggressive-looking exterior.

To its front is a large octagon headlamp with two turn signals sitting at its top. It also gets a reasonably sized windshield and a front fairing with a beak-like design. The latter will prove to be a recurring and common element on all three adventure motorcycles.

Further below is its front fender, which houses a 19-inch magwheel with 100/90 tubeless tires and a single disc brake. The setup is accompanied by an oil-damped telescopic suspension with coil springs as well as reflectors for better visibility.

The side profile of the Suzuki V-Strom 250 SX has angular panels that sort of give the go-anywhere bike a broad-looking shoulder. The side fairings hug the motorcycle’s 12-liter power tank while also protecting some of its components.

From here, one can see its clutch pedal, the aforementioned engine, metal step bars, and rugged-looking exhaust pipe.

Its rear end gets a well-protected cluster of lights with the two signal lamps protruding on each side. The Suzuki V-Strom 250 SX also gets a wide grab bar, which can be replaced with aftermarket parts to accommodate utility boxes and panniers.

Under the rear fender is a 17-inch magwheel wrapped in 140/70 rubber and is attached to a swing arm-type, coil spring, and oil-damped rear suspension system. Here, one can also find the rear disc brake.

Notable features offered by the Suzuki V-Strom 250 SX include its comfortable saddle, fully digital instrument panel, handlebars with protective guards, angular side mirrors, and durable engine guard.

The Suzuki V-Strom 250 SX is priced at P229,000.

    Suzuki V-Strom 800 DE

Suzuki gives the V-Strom range a big bump in capacity with the 800 DE.

Powering the off-roader is a 776cc gasoline-fed engine paired with a six-speed constant mesh transmission. The four-stroke, two-cylinder, liquid-cooled, dual overhead camshaft, parallel twin, powerplant makes as much as 83 horsepower (hp) with 78Nm of torque.

Like the smaller Suzuki V-Strom 250 SX, the V-Strom 800 DE wears a beak-like front fairing. Above it is a modern and muscular cluster of lights, two turn signals, and a fairly large windshield.

Its front fender houses a 21-inch spoked wheel that comes with 90/90 tube-type tires. It also comes with an inverted telescopic, oil-damped suspension system with coil springs. Twin disc brakes help facilitate halts as well as various maneuvers when riding on rough roads.

The flanks of the Suzuki V-Strom 800 DE also showcase plenty of angular panels like its little sibling. The saddle — sitting near the 20-liter fuel tank — is noticeably longer and has better cushioning. Likewise, the muffler is obviously larger and longer.

At the rear, the Suzuki V-Strom 800 DE also has a beefier grab bar, a similarly designed set of taillamps and turn signals, as well as an extended fender that also acts as the number plate holder.

Under which is a 17-inch spoked wheel shod in 150/70 tube-type tires. Twin disc brakes are also fitted to the rear setup together with a link-type, coil spring, oil-damped rear suspension system.

Like the aforementioned Suzuki V-Strom 250 SX, the V-Strom 800 DE also gets a digital instrument panel, handlebars with crash guards, and a relatively solid engine protector.

The Suzuki V-Strom 800 DE has a sticker price of P699,000.

    Suzuki V-Strom 1050 DE

The biggest and baddest Suzuki V-Strom available in the country is the 10520 DE.

As its name implies, the go-anywhere adventure bike is propelled by a 1037cc gasoline mill married to a six-speed constant mesh transmission.

On its fore is a headlamp cluster that looks more squarish in shape. The turn signals stand a wee taller while the adjustable windshield offers a towering stature to help protect the rider from the elements.

Under the beak-like fairing is a front fender that accommodates the bike’s 21-inch spoked wheels swathed in 90/90 tube-type tires. Visible is the Suzuki V-Strom 800 DE’s long inverted telescopic, oil-damped suspension system with coil springs. The leggy suspension lets one take a good look at the motorcycle’s radiator as well as its dual disc brakes.

The side of the Suzuki V-Strom 1050 DE tells the same story as its smaller brothers. That said, it wears several panels that boast an aggressive and angular design. It packs a 20-liter fuel tank as well as seats that will allow the rider to sit comfortably during long trips on unpaved thoroughfares.

Suzuki also gave the V-Strom 1050 DE metal step bars and a long muffler.

The tail of the Suzuki V-Strom 1050 DE flaunts a solid cluster of lights including the two turn signals that stick out of the rear fender and license plate holder. There’s also a reflector there for improved visibility.

Underneath the rear fender is a 17-inch spoked wheel that comes with 150/70 tubeless tires. It is supported by a link-type oil-damped rear suspension setup with coil springs.

Packing the best features the V-Strom family has to offer, the 1050 DE is fitted with a colored multi-information instrument cluster, durable crash guards on the handlebar, and an aluminum engine cover.

The Suzuki V-Strom 1050 DE is sold for P899,000.

    Final thoughts

Since adventure knows no boundaries, Suzuki is right to offer the V-Strom range in multiple bike segments to extend its reach over the Philippine motorcycle market.

In addition, doing so allowed the Japanese motorcycle company to empower many Filipino motorcycle buyers to find the right ride for their budget and motoring needs.
