Suzuki Hayabusa: Would you drop P1.2-M for a motorcycle?

The Suzuki Hayabusa represents the pinnacle of motorcycle technology for the local wing of the Japanese brand.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What powers the Suzuki Hayabusa?

The Suzuki Hayabusa is powered by a 1,340cc engine mated to a six-speed constant mesh transmission.
  • What are some of the technological features of the Suzuki Hayabusa?

The Hayabusa is fitted with advance motorcycle tech such as a motion track control system, power mode selector, and an anti-lift control system, to name a few.
  • Understandably, the Suzuki Hayabusa comes with a steep price. In fact, it’s the most expensive motorcycle currently offered on the brand’s roster with a tag of P1.225 million.

On that note, is that much money worth dropping for a two-wheeled steed? That’s what we’re going to find out by checking the Peregrine Falcon from The Land of the Rising Sun.

    Most aerodynamic ‘Busa to date

According to Suzuki Philippines Incorporated, the current generation Hayabusa (based on the 2022 model) is the most aerodynamic version of the nameplate to date.

Its recognizable yet unique silhouette isn’t just for looks but also performance. The Suzuki Hayabusa features plenty of straight and sharp lines that give the Hayabusa the best drag coefficient available on any streel-legal motorcycle.

At the front, the Suzuki Hayabusa has a V-shaped fascia with flowing and elegant lines. A decent-sized headlamp sits in the middle and is flanked by turn signals positioned near the edge of the air inlets in the middle. Also found here is a low-lying windshield and two sharp-looking side mirrors.

Under the front cowling is a short front fender that houses a 17-inch wheel with 120/70 tubeless tires.

The side profile of the Suzuki Hayabusa features more aerodynamic panels, with the side fairings having air outlets to help improve the motorcycle’s performance. The aggressive-looking exhaust pipe angles slowly upwards while the saddle is fitted with a thin cushion but offers adequate support.

At the rear, the Suzuki Hayabusa has a humped back that helps improve the flow of air from the windshield, through the back of the rider, then to the humped tail. It gets cool-looking taillamps and a short fender that has a reflector and a holder for the license plate.

Under it is a 17-inch wheel shod in 190/50 tubeless rubber.

    Built to perform

The Suzuki Hayabusa was simply built to perform. Its moniker — which translates to a falcon — is considered by many as a jab at another performance motorcycle from another brand named after another bird.

In betwixt the rider’s thighs is a 1,340 cubic centimeter engine mated to a six-speed constant mesh transmission system. The powerplant is fuel-injected and is liquid-cooled for optimum performance.

Further, the Suzuki Hayabusa is fitted with high-performance parts like dual Brembo Stylema four-piston brakes with anti-lock brake system (ABS) and A single-piston Nissin disc bake, also with ABS.

These appointments are fitted into the Suzuki Hayabusa straight from the factory, so those who want to fit their performance bikes with high-quality parts need not worry about spending extra dough to slap some branded components into their rides.

    Technology-packed

At the core of the Suzuki Hayabusa is the Suzuki Intelligent Ride System with a six-direction, three-axis inertial measurement unit as well as a motion track control system, power mode selector, an anti-lift control system, an engine brake control system, and a bi-directional quick shift system.

These advanced technologies make the Suzuki Hayabusa one of the most advanced machines that is controllable and predictable.

    Verdict

It’s true that the Suzuki Hayabusa is a motorcycle suited for thrill-seekers. For P1.225 million, it offers a ride with performance-oriented features packed to the brim — a highly-capable engine, an aerodynamic body, and plenty of high-quality components.

So, for the motorcycle buyer who likes to hit the tracks during the weekends or wants to take on long rides during their days off from work, the Suzuki Hayabusa is a motorcycle that’s worth every peso.
