2017 KTM Duke 390 Special Edition launched in the Philippines
MANILA: The Austrian bike manufacturer has recently introduced the 2017 KTM Duke 390 Special Edition in the country. The updated version will be available for sale from July 2017. In addition to the Special Edition, the 2017 version of Duke 390 is also introduced to further make the bike competent in its segment.
The special edition gets body graphics inspired by the Philippines national flag while the rest of the features are similar to the standard version. The naked bike is powered by a 373cc single cylinder, liquid cooled, fuel-injected engine which churns out 43.5 hp maximum power and 37 Nm peak torque. The engine is paired to a 6-speed gearbox.
The updated Duke 390 gets a slipper clutch, new TFT instrument cluster, bifurcated LED headlamps, and a new 13.4-litre metal fuel tank. Even the kerb weight of the bike is improved, which now measures just 149 kg.Like other small capacity Dukes, the 2017 Duke 390 will be also assembled in the Philippines at the Ayala Corporation plant. Currently, the plant is capable of producing 6000 bikes, this capacity will be gradually increased to 10,000 units.
With a sticker price of Php 2,68,000, let’s see how the special edition of KTM Duke 390 will perform in its segment. The company is not only looking to improve its position in the Philippines, it is also looking to expand its lineup in other Asian countries to make a strong name like Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki, and Kawasaki.
