Access Plus Racing eyes 4-peat in 2024 PSBK

MANILA: Access Plus Racing is eyeing for its championship in the upcoming 2024 Philippine Superbike Championship (PSBK).

Saddling up on the latest version of the Ducati Panigale V4 (who will be the team’s title contenders) are Timothy Joseph and Troy Alberto.

TJ has his eyes set on securing a fourth consecutive title while Troy will compete full-time in the Philippines after concluding his WorldSSP300 campaign last year. The younger Alberto last raced on the PSBK grid in 2021 before making a wildcard appearance during the 2023 season finale.

Per Access Plus, the motorcycle that the two riders (the first one being Rider of the Year awardee in 2021-2023) will use for the nearing season is the “closest iteration ever to a competition WorldSBK” version. It also helped the older Alberto claim six overall victories and five podium finishes last year to secure the championship.

In a statement, the team also mentioned that the duo has been “heavily testing over the past few weeks in preparation for the 2024 championship.” “Early indications show that TJ and Troy Alberto are equally matched on pace, which will make for a very interesting season as they take Access Plus Racing to overall victories,” it added.

The competition will have its kickoff at the Batangas Racing Circuit on May 11-12 while the season-ender at Clark International Speedway on October 12-13.

• Round 1 | May 11-12 (Batangas Racing Circuit)
• Round 2 | June 1-2 (Batangas Racing Circuit)
• Round 3 | July 6-7 (Clark International Speedway)
• Round 4 | August 3-4 (Clark International Speedway)
• Round 5 | September 7-8 (Batangas Racing Circuit)
• Round 6 | October 12-13 (Clark International Speedway)

“2024 will be a very interesting season. Not only will I be aiming for my 4th consecutive title, but I'll also be racing against my brother Troy who's a really strong rider. We're in the same team and we're family, so it's going to be interesting how that dynamic will play out. I'm really excited to start the season and have extra motivation this year to push even harder,” TJ said.

 “After two years racing out of the country, I’m excited to come home to the Philippine Superbike Championship. Myself and the team have been putting in the work the past few months and I feel ready to race. My target is to go for the win and to have fun racing hard against the other guys,” Troy, for his part, noted.

The team has also partnered with Shell Advance, noting that its fully synthetic range is the oil being used and recommended by Ducati for its ultimate performance and protection.

Having both TJ and Troy at the helm, this is also our strongest ever lineup in PSBK. We're confident that these two can ride at record pace and we're praying that we can take this to the championship,” Access Plus President and chief executive Officer Toti Alberto mentioned.
