Access Plus Racing’s TJ Alberto dominates 2024 PSBK 3rd Round

MANILA: Access Plus Racing (APR), with reigning champion Timothy Joseph Alberto on the saddle of his #77 Ducati Panigale V4, has dominated the third round of the 2024 Philippine Superbike Championship (PSBK).

Held at the Clark International Speedway in Pampanga, Alberto and his Ducati motorcycle finished the competition’s latest round with two race wins.

In Race 1, Alberto displayed a consistent pace and thus managed a win along with a new official track record of one minute and 48.407 seconds. The aforementioned run time of CIS has broken the previous record he set at last year’s PSBK season finale.

In Race 2, APR’s rider followed up with another victory whilst keeping a notable lead of 10.803 seconds ahead of his closest competitor.

Despite his successful performance, Alberto’s clean sweep at the fourth round of the PSBK was not without its challenges. Notably, he had to ride solo as his brother Troy Alberto was still recuperating from an accident at the Batangas Racing Circuit. Additionally, his rival Marvin Mangulabnan, riding an Aprilia, managed to close in on APR’s rider during the previous round. 

After gaining two wins at the 4.189-kilometer-long race track, Alberto is now the leading rider in the 2024 PSBK's overall standings.

“Super amazing weekend and really good to do the triple. Honestly we didn’t expect it. We knew that there would be tough competition coming into Clark as we had a close race in BRC,” Alberto said. 

“That’s why the whole team has been working hard to develop the Ducati Panigale V4 for this race and you can see that we’ve reaped the rewards from testing. Really good to come to the midpoint of the season with a good points lead and looking to improve again for the next round,” Alberto added. 

For those who are unaware, Alberto is a three-time champion and the current reigning champion of the PSBK. The veteran rider and APR are looking to grab a fourth championship title this year.

The next round of the PSBK is scheduled for August 3-4, 2024 at CIS.
