Aprilia PH launches RS 457

MANILA: Aprilia Philippines launched the RS 457, a middleweight sport bike packed with racing-inspired appointments.

Powering the motorcycle is a 457 cubic centimeter engine with two parallel forward-facing cylinders (four valves per cylinder), liquid-cooling, and ride-by-wire technologies.

Mated to a six-speed multi-plate wet clutch with a slipper system, the setup makes as much as 47.6 horsepower and 43.5 Newton-meters of torque.

Echoing the performance-oriented powertrain are sharp and aggressive-looking front double fairings as well as a two-in-one exhaust pipe. The Aprilia RS 457 can be had in three distinct liveries, which are Prismatic Dark, Opalescent White, or — probably our favorite — Racing Stripes.

Holding it all together is a lightweight dual-beam aluminum frame, supported by a 41-millimeter (mm) upside-down fork with adjustable preload and 120 mm of travel as well as a rear monoshock — also with adjustable preload — with 130 mm of wheel travel.

It rides on 17-inch aluminum alloy wheels complemented by a 320 mm floating disc brake with a ByBre (abbreviation of By Brembo) four-piston radial caliper at the fore and a 220 mm disc brake with a ByBre single-piston caliper at the rear.

Other notable features include an LED headlight assembly, a dual-channel anti-lock brake system with anti-rollover, traction control, three ride modes, metal-braided brake hoses, a five-inch thin-film transistor instrument panel, and backlit handlebar controls.

The Aprilia RS 457 is priced from P348,000-P358,000.
