BMW Motorrad PH to introduce R 1300 GS Adventure?

MANILA: BMW Motorrad Philippines is set to reveal a new offering soon and it will likely be the all-new R 1300 GS Adventure.

The speculation came following the company’s posting over its social media pages (Facebook and Instagram accounts), showing a familiar shape — specifically that of the adventure motorcycle BMW R 1300 GS. Per BMW Motorrad Philippines, the said offering shall be officially revealed on Thursday (October 24).

“Get ready to meet the flagship of BMW Motorrad’s adventure segment. Made for longer rides, all-day comfort, and performance to take you anywhere,” the postings read.

To recall, it was last year when the San Miguel Corporation-led motorcycle distributor brought to the country the BMW R 1300 GS in its non-Adventure kind. The said offering is now available in three variants namely the Trophy, Triple Black, and the Option 17 Tramuntana.

Should our guess be correct, what can customers see with the upcoming model? Here are the possible speculations based on what is seen on overseas markets.

Probable specs

Abroad, the BMW R 1300 GS Adventure measures 2,280 millimeters (mm) long; 1,012 mm wide; and 870-890 mm saddle height. Its tank has the capacity to carry 30 liters of fuel.

Sporting a distinct athletic design, the BMW R 1300 GS Adventure outside the Philippines is outfitted with an all-LED illumination system (headlamp, daytime running lights, two extra-flat auxiliary headlamps, and turn signals).

Powering the BMW R 1300 GS Adventure is the 1,300 cubic centimeter twin-cylinder mill — which is said to be the brand’s most powerful boxer engine to be produced in series. On paper, the said powertrain can provide a peak churn of 145 horses and 149 Newton-meters of torque.

It also has an automated shift assistant for fully automatic clutch actuation with manual or automated shifting.

The BMW R 1300 GS Adventure also has various safety, security, convenience and technological features namely the following:

Customers may expect that the pricing of the BMW R 1300 GS Adventure to be around P1.9-P2 million since it will be slotted above the Tramuntana option — making it the nameplate’s top-of-the-line variant.
