Harley-Davidson Sportster S to be launched Nov. 20

MANILA: Harley-Davidson will officially launch its all-new Sportster S sport custom motorcycle on November 20. 

To introduce the Sportster S to customers, authorized Harley-Davidson dealerships across in the Philippines will be hosting an open house event. The sport custom bike will go for P1.03 million, the motorcycle maker said. 

The Sportster S is powered by a "Revolution Max" V-Twin engine, with 121hp and "on-demand" torque. The bike sports a lightweight chassis and premium suspension, along with rider-assist technologies. Three pre-programmed and selectable Ride Modes (Sport, Road and Rain) electronically control the performance characteristics of the motorcycle. 

The Ride Mode functions are displayed on the  round four-inch TFT screen of the Sportster S. The screen also displays all instrumentation, and infotainment generated by the rider’s Bluetooth-equipped mobile device and helmet headset, including music, incoming and outgoing calls.

Underpinning the Sportster S is a fully adjustable front and rear suspension: Showa 43mm inverted cartridge forks and Showa Piggyback reservoir rear shock. The rear suspension comes with a hydraulic pre-load adjustment, which can be controlled via a knob on the left side of the motorcycle.

The Sportster S is also equipped with lightweight cast aluminum wheels with wide Dunlop/Harley-Davidson Series GT503 tires. For excellent braking performance, the motorcycle comes with premium Brembo braking components. 

As for the exterior, Harley-Davidson describes the Sportster S as appearing "crouched and powerful with the fuel tank and tail section frame the engine as the predominant centerpiece of the motorcycle."

The motorcycle maker adds: "The massive front tire recalls the fenderless front end of a classic bobber, while the tail section, high-mount exhaust and slim solo seat draw inspiration from the Harley-Davidson XR750 flat tracker. The thick inverted forks and wide-profile tires suggest a high-performance sport bike."

Riders can have their Sportster S finished in Vivid Black,  Stone Washed White Pearl, and Midnight Crimson.
