What motorcycle models did Hero MotoCorp launch at the 2024 EICMA?
At the 2024 EICMA, Hero MotorCorp launched the Karizma XMR 250, Xtreme 250 R, and the XPulse 210.How much horsepower and torque can the Hero Karizma XMR 250 and Xtreme 250 R produce?
Both the Hero Karizma XMR 250 and Xtreme 250 R can produce up to 30 horsepower and 25 Newton-meters of torque. The Kariza XMR 250 sport bike is the current evolution of the old Karizma nameplate, which was initially introduced back in 2003 under Hero Honda. The Xtreme 250R, meanwhile, comes in the form of a street naked ride based on the Xtunt 2.5 R concept motorcycle that debuted in the 2023 edition of EICMA.
The XPulse 210, on the other hand, is a dual-sport motorcycle that builds upon the success of the older XPulse 200 4V.
Karizma XMR 250
The Indian motorcycle marque touts the Karizma XMR 250 as a sporty but also head-turning ride. It is equipped with a sleek-looking, fully-faired body, which is complemented by race-inspired winglets, multi-projector LED headlamps and LED daytime running lights.
Underpinning the structure of the new sport bike is a trellis frame. It also comes with a height-adjustable clip-on handlebar, an inverted front fork, 17-inch tires, front and rear disc brakes, as well as a six-step adjustable monoshock rear suspension.
Added safety is provided by a switchable anti-lock braking system. Plus, it was kitted out with a built-in lap timer and drag timer.
Propelling the new version of the Karizma is Hero’s new 250-cubic centimeter (cc) double overhead cam (DOHC), liquid-cooled engine. At maximum, the aforementioned mill can generate up to 30 horsepower (hp) and 25 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque.
Xtreme 250 R
Like the Karizma XMR 250, the all-new Xtreme 250 R uses the New Delhi-based company’s newly developed 250-cc DOHC liquid-cooled motor. It also has the same engine output.
Additionally, it uses a similar trellis frame and the same front and rear suspension systems as the sport bike. Its standout styling, however, was derived from the Xtunt 2.5 R concept, resulting in an aggressive-looking naked street bike that serves as “a statement of intent for the brand.”
While it shares a lot of mechanical bits with the Karizma, the Xtreme does have some unique features. For instance, its digital display can handle navigation. Plus, Hero says it boats a 50-50 weight balance due to its use of radial tires.
XPulse 210
At EICMA 2024, Hero also introduced the new XPulse 210, which is considered the next evolution of the XPulse nameplate.
Like its predecessor, it retains the form of an adventure-ready bike, but it now boasts a larger 210-cc engine capable of producing 24.5 hp and 20.4 Nm of torque.
Power for the bike is sent to its rear wheels via a six-speed gearbox equipped with a slipper clutch. It also utilizes a 210-millimeter (mm) front fork, a 205-mm rear suspension, a switchable anti-lock braking system, and a 4.2-inch TFT speedometer.
Additionally, the new off-road-capable ride is paired with a rally kit for enhanced off-road capability.
Vida Z
Apart from the Karizma XMR 250, Xtreme 250 R, and XPulse 210, Hero MotoCorp also showcased the Vida Z all-electric scooter at EICMA.
Due to be released in Europe in 2025, the Vida Z was dubbed by Hero as a fitting ride for a daily commuter. No range figures have been provided yet, but it can come with a 2.2-4.4 kilowatt-hour battery.
The upcoming introduction of the Hero electric bike will also mark the brand’s expansion to Europe and the United Kingdom.
For now, there’s no word as to when the trio of newly launched motorcycle models will reach the Philippine market. Currently, Hero MotoCorp’s local arm offers the Xoom 110, Hunk, and XPulse 200 4V.
