KTM announces 990 RC R

MANILA: KTM will once again offer an authentic road-homologated performance sports bike for the masses with the 990 RC R.

According to the Austrian motorcycle company, the KTM 990 RC R will boast a “Supersport persona” but will be mass-produced and approved for street use.

KTM will begin production of the 990 RC R at its Mattighofen factory in early 2025. However, motorcycle enthusiasts will be able to see the new two-wheeler in action as it will make appearances as a wildcard entry in non-point scoring outings across select European Supersport series.

Further, KTM will also film a multi-part behind-the-scenes documentary about the research and development journey of the motorcycle as well as its entry into the Supersport sector. The said video will give viewers close, and not normally seen, insights into the fast-paced world of the KTM factory and what it takes to craft a motorcycle from an idea into reality.

KTM 990 RC R features

The KTM 990 RC R is powered by an LC8c engine that dishes out some 126 horsepower with 103 Newton-meters of torque. The powerplant is paired with a shifter that can be reversed to race-shift as standard as well as a new ergo-crafted and condensed stainless steel muffler.

At the core of the KTM 990 RC R is a steel frame engineered for dynamic performance, with increased weight bias towards the front end. It boasts a steering head with an angle of about 25 degrees for enhanced steering responsiveness and improved stiffness to give riders the right feel and stability under acceleration on bumpy roads or on racetracks.

Other notable features include an ergonomic fuel tank, adjustable footrests, adjustable WP APEX Open Cartridge Suspension, lightweight cast-aluminum wheels wrapped in Michelin tires, and wind-tunnel-chiseled aero wings.
