KTM launches 2019 690 SMC R and 690 Enduro R

MANILA: Housing the Austrian automaker’s newest 690 cc liquid cooled LC4 single-cylinder engines are the 2019 versions of the 690 SMC R and 690 Enduro R. While KISKA has once again assisted KTM in revising the designing of the two motorcycles, the new engines are special courtesy the cylinder heads with dual ignition, dual balancer shafts, and Keihin EFI with 50 mm throttle bodies.

The differences between the two motorcycles are the merest, and the two KTMs share a lot in common. The likes of cornering ABS, ultralight chrome-molybdenum trellis frames, self-supporting, 13.5-litre polymer rear fuel tanks, Brembo brakes, PASC slipper clutches, Quickshifter+, Motorcycle traction control (MTC), electronic rider aids, and fully-adjustable WP suspension with separate damping circuits can be found on both the two-wheelers.

Made for the street hooligans, the 2019 690 SMC R by KTM can zip through clogged traffic, roar on track, and whatnot! Providing the bike with all the agility and naughtiness are the 48 mm inverted forks with 215 mm of travel and a rear monoshock with 240 mm of travel, both of which are part of the fully-adjustable WP APEX suspension setup. The bike gets two riding modes, namely Street and Sport. Moreover, the motorcycle rides on 17-inch wheels, and the braking duties are handled by a 320 mm rotor at the front and a 240 mm rotor at the rear. With a ground clearance of 238 mm and seat height of 890 mm, the KTM 690 SMC R weighs 147 kg dry.

Talking about the 2019 690 Enduro R, the motorcycles features a fully-adjustable WP XPLOR suspension setup. Up front are the 48 mm inverted forks which have 250 mm of travel, while at the rear is a monoshock with 250 mm of travel. With the 2019 690 Enduro R, KTM is targeting at both the experienced as well as beginner riders who dream to conquer the unknown tracks. Offroad and Street are the two ride modes available on the 690 Enduro R. Wheels on this motorcycle are of 18-inch. Disc sizes at the front and rear are 300 mm and 250 mm, respectively. Weighing 146 kg, the 2019 KTM 690 Enduro R has a seat height of 910 mm along with a ground clearance of 270 mm.

Price of the both the 2019 690 SMC R and the 2019 690 Enduro R is £ 9599 (roughly Php 645,118). The two motorcycles are available at KTM dealerships across the globe. However, KTM Philippines is yet to make any announcement regarding the availability and the price of the two new adventure motorcycles in the country.
