Paz becomes first Pinoy racer to join FIM CEV-Repsol Moto2 Category
MANILA: After being hailed as the overall champion of the 2019 Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) UB150, McKinley Kyle Paz is now gearing up to be the first Filipino to compete on the 2021 FIM CEV-Repsol Moto2 Category.
Paz considers this opportunity as a stepping stone for his goal to reach the highly coveted MotoGP Championships. He will be competing under the VR46 Mastercamp Team in racetracks across Spain and Portugal.
Paz began his racing career at a young age as his remarkable potential was realized — allowing him to take home the championship titles in different motorsports events. After winning local competitions, his class as a top-rate rider was truly stamped in his victory in the Asia Road Racing Championship. He was also the first Filipino to participate in the highly exclusive VR46 Master Camp. Since most competitions were postponed during the pandemic, Paz continued to prepare and stay ready as he is eager to bring home another victory in his next conquest.
The continued rise of Paz is a proof of the relentless commitment of Yamaha Motor Philippines in honing the skills of Filipino riders. The company values every opportunity that is given to Filipino riders to showcase their talent here in the country and even abroad. Yamaha continues to produce top-performing machines that will serve as the vessel of every Filipino rider towards victory.
Paz will kick off his campaign on June 13 in Barcelona-Catalonia, Catalonia, Spain. The next races are scheduled on July 7 at Autodromo Algarve, Portimao, Portugal; July 25 at MotorLand Aragon, Alcaniz, Spain; October 17 at Circuit de Jerez, Cadiz, Spain; and November 7 at Circuit Ricardo Tormo, Valencia, Spain.
