Shell further shows support for bikers in new deal with TVS Motor
MANILA: Around eight million tricycles and motorcycles were registered in the country in 2019, which strongly outumbered four-wheel vehicles.
Despite the fact that two- and three-wheelers comprise a large percentage of the total number of motor vehicles in the country, motorbike riders truly do not the same attention given to trucks and cars.
To guarantee that more two-wheel motorists obtain the service and fuels that are suitable for their needs, Shell entered into a three-year agreement with global parts and motorcycle manufacturer TVS Motor last October 23. This collaboration reinforced the level of support that motorcycle riders acquire on their trips.
Pilipinas Shell Vice President and General Manager for Retail Randy Del Valle explained, “The number of two-wheel motorists in the Philippines is growing at an incredible pace, and that means that the industry has to start paying more attention to them by adjusting our products and services to better meet their needs. Many of them, private bike owners and professional bikers alike, have been instrumental in restoring mobility to the Philippines. They need our support to sustain them during their trips, especially because they are among the few motorists who can move with ease during the pandemic.”
TVS Motor is regarded as one of the top manufacturers of two-and three-wheeled vehicles in the world, as it covers mopeds to racing-inspired motorcycles. It exports to over 60 countries and, having more than 1,000 branches in the Philippines, the company also has a long history in utilizing state-of-the-art engineering and technology to establish the latest in two-wheeled vehicles.
TVS Philippines Country Manager Vaibhav Srivastava said, “The two-wheel market is picking up well. I would say that the market is coming back to normal, where we left it in March. The entire motive of having this partnership is to give every bit of value that we can to the end-users and provider of fuels.”
The collaboration is until October 30, 2023. Customers are provided with a Shell Go+ kit that includes 1,400 points when they buy two-wheel or three-wheel products from any store of TVS Motor nationwide.
Shell Go+ is considered to be the new digital-first loyalty program that enables users to earn and redeem points through an app, when purchasing from any retail station of Shell.
Shell Retail Marketing Manager Arvin Obmerga expressed, “We’re looking forward to broadening the reach of assistance we can extend to two-wheel motorists across the country. They represent the largest segment of the motoring market in the Philippines, and we feel that it’s time for them to get more care and attention from the fuel providers that they visit every day.”
The points can be utilized when they gas up for fuels such as Shell V-Power with Dynaflex Technology to generate a seamless ride, make engine performance more effective, and increase acceleration.
Shell Brand Manager for Fuels Jerome David also provided details regarding the breakthrough fuel. He said, “Shell V-Power makes motorcycles powerful and, to date, is our best performance fuel for these vehicles.”
TVS motorcycle riders who sign up for the program will also obtain customized offers from Shell Go+ like deals on Shell Advance motorcycle oils, which give full engine protection so that bikers can be on the road for a longer time.
It also enables riders to acquire other items in Shell Select convenience stores, given its network of partners like Jollibee, Shoppee, Lazada, SM, and Motolite, among others.

The collaboration with TVS Motor is only one of the aspects of Shell’s goals to guarantee that two-wheel motorists acquire greater support and care.
Shell also introduced the Shell V-Power designated biker fuel lanes at its stations. As it is built to satisfy the specific needs of motorcycles, its biker lanes also offer free cleaning, consultation on motorcycle maintenance, and oil checks to keep the motorcycles of customers in top condition, without the need to wait in lanes behind four-wheeled vehicles to be filled up.
Del Valle shared, “At Shell, we want to ensure that all of these riders are taken care of while on the road. Whether it be through our premium fuels or our advanced lubricants, we want to ensure that their engines last longer and ride better.”
