'Spruced-up' Yamaha Sniper 155 now available in PH

MANILA: Yamaha Motor Philippines (YMPH) has formally unveiled the latest iteration Sniper 155.

Teased during the company’s press conference for the initial round of the 2024 Asia Road Racing Championships, the new offering comes with aesthetic upgrades compared to the version launched in 2021.

The new Yamaha Sniper 155’s front fairing sports more prominent lines and sharper edges compared to the outgoing version — with the upper left and right portions stretched a little upward that give better coverage to the rider. Its plastic slat where the emblem is affixed has three slots, unlike the previous iteration that only has one hole.

The new Yamaha Sniper 155 powered by the same 155-cubic-centimeter, single-cylinder liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine with variable valve actuation matched to a six-speed transmission. The set-up complements the lightweight frame that makes the motorcycle agile.

To note, the newly-launched model comes from the bloodline that has produced winners like McKinley Kyle Paz (who was the overall champion of the 2019 Asia Road Racing Championship [ARRC> UB150) and helped April King Mascardo and Gian Carlo Mauricio finished at the podium in the same series’ first two rounds for the year.

Providing better stopping control to the nameplate’s top-version trim is the anti-lock braking system.

Other features that can be found in the motorcycle are the inverted digital panel, assist and slipper clutch, smart key system and two-pot brake caliper.
