Suzuki Gixxer Club PH celebrates 8th year with 2-day ride

MANILA: The Suzuki Gixxer Club of the Philippines (GCPH) celebrated its eight anniversary with a two-day ride that gathered participants from across the country.

According to Suzuki Philippines (SPH), some 221 riders from various chapters including the National Capital Region (South and Main), Laguna, Batangas, Cavite, Rizal, Quezon, Bicol, Bulacan, Pampanga, Aklan, and Capiz came together for the event.

Club members started from SPH’s plant to the hot springs in Pansol, Calamba City, Laguna. The scenic ride traversed through Casile round-about to Jose Yulo Boulevard, Mayapa, Checkpoint, and Crossing culminating at Villa Caridad Leisure Resort in Pansol.

“The Suzuki Gixxer has been a beloved motorcycle among Filipino riders and the Gixxer Club of the Philippines stands as a testament to its enduring appeal for over eight years,” SPH wrote in a press release.

The Suzuki Gixxer Fi is a middleweight streetfighter-style motorcycle that has been a popular choice for many Filipino enthusiasts.

It is fitted with a 154 cubic centimeter (cc) engine paired with a five-speed manual transmission system. On paper, it puts out some 19 horsepower with 14 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque to give the two-wheeled steed a good balance of oomph and pulling power that’s ideal for both short and long rides in and outside the city.

Per the Japanese motorcycle marque’s local arm, the Suzuki Gixxer Fi clocks in at 50 kilometers per liter.

Deceleration and halting are handled by disc brakes on both ends. It rides on 17-inch wheels with a 100/80 tire at the front and a 140/60 tire at the rear. For its suspension, the Suzuki Gixxer Fi gets a long front telescopic fork and a swing arm-type setup at the rear.

Meanwhile, (its bigger brother) the Suzuki Gixxer 250, packs a 249 cc mill paired with a six-speed constant mesh transmission that makes around 26.1 horses and 22.6 Nm of torque. The beefier two-wheeler is better suited for long-distance rides thanks to its engine with a larger displacement.

Stopping power comes from disc brakes (front and back) with anti-lock braking, for improved safety. They are housed in 17-inch wheels wrapped with a 110/70 tire at the front and a 150/60 tire at the rear.

Suspension-wise, it gets a telescopic front fork with coil springs and oil dampening as well as a swing arm-type set up at the rear with similar features.
