Suzuki teams up with Capcom for Juri-inspired GSX-8R

MANILA: Suzuki Motor Corporation has teamed up with Capcom for a one-off GSX-8R inspired by Juri Han, a character from the iconic Street Fighter 6 video game. 

Dubbed “GSX-8R Tuned by Juri,” the sport bike features aggressive color graphics combining black, purple, cyan, and hot pink hues from the South Korean (kick-focused, like Chun-Li) fighter’s character palette. 

Black serves as the base paintwork. The purple is added to create Juri’s trademark spider pattern while some dabs of cyan appear to make the brake calipers, the tip of the muffler, and the end of the handlebar grips (as well as some similarly-colored components) pop out. Fittingly, the Feng Shui engine in her left eye is represented on the motorcycle’s engine cover. 

Finally, the motorcycle sports a hand-drawn style GSX-8R logo, which Suzuki said “adds a custom feel to the design.” 

To note, Juri (who was first introduced into the game in Street Fighter IV) has a profile on the official Street Fighter website that says she likes motorcycles (and spiders), making her an appropriate choice to tie in the two-wheeler brand with the video game franchise.

Although the actual GSX-8R Tuned by Juri bike will not go on sale per Suzuki, Filipino riders (and Street Fighter fans alike) can still get a feel of what it’s like to sit atop its saddle as the said model is available here in the country.

Suzuki at Capcom Cup 11, Street Fighter League: World Championship 2024

Suzuki will have a booth at the upcoming Capcom Cup 11 and Street Fighter League: World Championship 2024. The events — which are sponsored by Suzuki — will be held tomorrow (March 5) until Sunday (March 9) at the Ryogoku Kokugikan National Sumo Arena in Tokyo, Japan. 

There, the “GSX-8R Tuned by Juri” will be on display. After which, the motorcycle will be showcased as a special display at Suzuki's booth during motorcycle shows in three cities, starting in Osaka on 21 March, and continuing to Tokyo and Nagoya.

“Suzuki aims to support people around the world who take on challenges and to share the joy created by gaming through this collaboration with ‘Street Fighter,’” the motorcycle manufacturer said in a press release. 

“Through the collaboration between motorcycles and games, we aim to bring joy and richness to the daily lives of our fans,” it added.
