Suzuki to develop new mobility with drive unit of Panasonic e-bikes

MANILA: Suzuki Motor Corporation has partnered with Panasonic Cycle Technology Company to jointly explore new modes of transportation that make use of e-bike’s drive units.

The co-development agreement is intended to look into the potential of combining Suzuki's motorcycle development technology with the compact, lightweight drive unit and lithium-ion battery of the e-bikes developed, produced, and marketed by Panasonic.

Suzuki will be in charge of developing and testing new mobility, while Panasonic will be creating prototypes and providing components such as drive units.

In 1999, Suzuki and Panasonic signed an original equipment manufacturer agreement making Suzuki the distributor of e-bikes made by Panasonic in Japan under the brand name LOVE SNA24/26.

By combining their motorcycle and e-bike expertise, Suzuki and Panasonic vowed to work together to develop innovative transportation toward a carbon-neutral future.
