Top pick: Limited-edition Vespa Pic Nic debuts
MANILA: Vespa has unveiled the limited-edition Vespa Pic Nic, which features special design elements that for a modern “rustic-chic” picnic ambience.
Since the economic boom that happened at the end of World War II ended, young Italians started to make time for their passion to take a break from their daily routine. Most of them chose to spend their leisure time by a going on a quick trip to the countryside. This paved the way for Vespa’s transformation from being a work tool to becoming a stylish leisure ride.
The picnic concept was derived from the French word “pique-nique” that refers to a social gathering where each attendee comes with a share of food.
The Vespa Pic Nic is developed to allow people create more moments of togetherness with their friends and family and explore new places outside their busy towns.
The new Vespa Pic Nic is available in three color variants: White Innocenza, Green Relax, and Grey Materia. The vehicle is embellished with the signature belt in beige that adds a whimsical touch to the scooter’s ensemble. The Vespa Pic Nic also comes with front and rear racks, which are individually designed with one brown strap that secures the items to be carried on the scooter.
To further intensify the picnic rustic mood that the scooter sets, it is embellished with brown details including the footrest and the stickers. The Vespa Pic Nic comes with a unique saddle which is designed with different shades of brown to enhance its sophisticated look. A small Italian flag is located on the saddle strap as a nod to Vespa’s country of origin. The scooter’s body is entirely made of steel as per Vespa’s signature. Its chic and youthful style is even accentuated by the chromed crest details, white shield outlines, and white rims.
Vespa Pic Nic comes with five-spoke, 12-inch aluminum alloy wheel rims that are specially designed by Piaggio Group’s Italian design center. The white rims highlight the scooter’s modishness and make the vehicle ideal for young people who enjoy going on quick getaways from the city.
The limited edition scooter can be easily recognized by the “Vespa Pic Nic” signature plate on the front compartment and exclusive accessories that complete the special collection.
The Vespa Pic Nic is powered by modern one-cylinder four-stroke 150cc iGet engine with electronic injection and three-valve distribution. The exhaust and the inner structure of the transmission were meticulously designed to deliver a smooth and quiet ride. The control unit comes with a barometric sensor that guarantees maximum combustion under all conditions.
The Vespa Pic Nic delivers outstanding performance whether on city streets or open roads. The engine’s remarkable power comes together with extremely low fuel consumption.
Vespa also launched merchandise inspired by Vespa Pic Nic. The picnic blanket with Vespa Pic Nic logo and the special rattan basket with fixing kit and leather details are specialized for riders who prefer a vintage picnic vibe.
A white cooling bag is also available to preserve the food and drinks inside the basket. Vespa also designed special tumblers that maintain the drinks' temperature.
Picnickers can even match their outfits with the scooter as Vespa has also designed a branded fedora hat, a tote bag, and a white T-shirt with heritage graphic.
