Vespa introduces 50th-anniversary special editions of the Primavera

MANILA: Vespa, the iconic Italian two-wheeler maker, has been best known for its premium scooters ever since its first appearance internationally. One of the models, the Primavera, has been a quintessential model and has been on sale since 1968.

Yes, the Vespa Primavera has completed 50 years since its launch and to celebrate the Golden Jubilee anniversary, the company has introduced two new “Special Series” models. These two special edition scooters are called “Notte” and “Yacht Club” and were unveiled earlier in June at the Amerivespa annual event in Virginia.

The Yacht Club edition has a sailing-cruising-themed colour scheme which is a combination of deep navy blue inserts on an eggshell white base paint. This edition is available on both the Primavera and the GTS models.

However, the other Notte edition is given on the Sprint and the GTS Super. It is more like a darker side of the Vespa scooter with a matte black paint job. This package also includes different (compared to the Yacht Club) design on the black alloy wheel.

The Vespa Primavera and Sprint are offered in 50-cc and 125-cc variants. The smaller displacement version makes 3.3 PS while the bigger model makes 10.7 PS. However, the 125 cc engine of the GTS makes an increased power of 12.2 PS which comes at 8,750 RPM. The bigger 300 cc GTS is an extremely powerful scooter and makes up to 21.2 PS of power at 7,750 RPM.

All of the scooters ride on 12-inch wheels. However, the GTS versions have a lot of extra equipment considering the high performance. Vespa GTS is offered with the company’s i-get Start/Stop system and a digital cluster.
