Yamaha concludes 'successful' YClub Mania run in Davao
MANILA: Yamaha Motor Philippines Incorporated (YMPH) concluded this year’s YClub Mania in Davao.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
What was the first idea YMPH had when forming YClub?
According to YMPH Marketing Section Manager Toni Acuesta, YClub was initially formed with the idea of creating a community for Yamaha motorcycle owners. How many YClub groups were present at the gathering?
Present at the gathering were 15 Yamaha-affiliated clubs. The third leg of the brand’s club initiative gathered some 585 riders, which exceeded YMPH’s targeted number of attendees.
Participants started with a breakfast ride, and soon after, took to the scenic roads of Davao. The journey ended at the Davao Convention and Trade Center, where several activities were lined up for the riders.
Included were a basketball shootout, a ball pit, displays of custom bikes from participating clubs, discounted items from YMPH partner brands, talks about motorcycle safety, as well as prizes that were raffled off to the lucky Mindanaoans present at the gathering.
“The first idea when we came up with this program — not really coming from sales — was to form a community wherein people can notice us… and that’s where they will discover Yamaha,” YMPH Marketing Section Manager Toni Acuesta told Zigwheels Philippines when asked why the brand decided to create YClub.
“It’s more about lifestyle really... we want people to understand is that this riding community is a culture. So it’s not just about selling motorcycles but what we’re selling more is experience,” he noted.
With today’s rising gasoline prices, motorcycles are often seen as a more affordable means of moving from point A to point B. However, owning a Yamaha motorcycle is being touted to be more than that.
The experience, according to the YClub community catchphrase, is “more than just a ride.”
“When they use their Yamaha motorcycles, they don’t just use it day-to-day — from home to the office… but you try to discover where you can go further riding your Yamaha motorcycle. Like on the weekend, you can go to the beach, you can go to a certain destination to explore the different places we have in the Philippines,” explained Acuesta.
Those looking to be a part of the YClub community can expect more than just fun and exciting experiences. In fact, Acuesta revealed to Zigwheels that its affiliated members enjoy perks for creating their own programs and for being active participants.
“Actually, there’s a lot. Even I would want to be a part of YClub community” Acuesta said referring to the perks enjoyed by YClub members.
YMPH — Acuesta pointed out — can give support to its affiliate clubs depending on the program and activity that the members come up with.
Looking ahead and to give its riders something to look forward to, Acuesta said that in 2024, YMPH will be creating a bigger YClub community.
“We’re going to open up our loyalty programs as well next year,” he teased.
Not resting on its laurels, YMPH seems to be cooking up more experiences for its customers in the future, which could possibly attract more riders to flock to its YClub community.
Overall, the participants for this year's Davao leg of the YClub Mania came from 15 Yamaha-affiliated clubs such as All Mio Club Mindanao, Aerox Club PH Mindanao, and NMAX Club PH Mindanao.
